Where is the Tyson hate originating from?

yup. it helps to have been around for it to see how good he was for a few years and to know that not all of his opponents were 'crackheads' and to know that buster wasn't the 'worst contender' in history (really have some of these posters not seen peter okhello or kevin johnson or kali meehan or audley... the list could go on.... or even title holders such as john ruiz or ibragimov...)

I agree. he's very overrated by people who don't follow boxing much, but he's underrated by the guys on esb

i did not grow up during tysons time

i do think he is one of the greats

i dont hate him but i do think he gets over rated but like any great fighter some people just really over do it with him

he was great but he isnt in my top 5 at heavyweight

he isnt over rated but some posters and writers do over rate him just like many under rate him

as far as hate goes i dont hate the guy i admit he is ****ed up and did stupid ****

my father grew up watching ali, frazier, foreman, holmes, tyson etc and he did not like tyson

but it had nothing to do with the boxing or his rating it had to do with the fact that he was a punk and a thug and mugged an old woman in an elevator and he knew tyson was gonna show his true colors eventually when things didnt go his way

AKA losing to Douglas after marital problems

losing to Douglas than going to jail

Being frustrated that he couldnt beat Holyfield and biting him

being angry he wasnt the best in the world anymore and lashing out at Lewis

 

I love Tyson,fought his ass off and knows his boxing inside and out and I think he was a good fighter ,just not the Mythical killer of all like his fans proclaim him to be. He gets way too much credit for dominating a very weak Division, possibly even weaker than todays but his fans claim in his prime he would ko everybody in 4 rounds.That is the only real problem I/most people have when Tyson is mentioned. No hate for Mike though he was Just doing his job and he did it well.

 

I think the hate is because so many people over rate him soooo much and think he'd knock anoyone flat within one round, that lots of people hate him to equalize it out. I love him.
