well, if he retires, maybe he knows he cant beat the best, no point going out & gitting flogged, im sure hes made enough money, if he fights on & rematches tarver, good on him, he has the rematch clause, why not another payday??

Tarver 2 won't be any different to Tarver 1.

Maybe Danny shld go back down to light heavy and finish his career on a win.

ShareFORMER IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green has called for a rematch against Antonio Tarver in a stunning announcement to extend his 10-year professional fighting career.

    Danny Green will fight on

    Getty Images
PrevNextGreen, 38, announced to a press conference in Perth he wants to keep his colourful career alight and called for Tarver to take him on.

And Green announced he wants to take his challenge to the United States - Tarver's home turf.

After he strangely cancelled a press conference last week, Green cleared the air on Tuesday of his immediate plans.

Speculation had raged that the popular Green might even retire.

Green’s boxing career was thrown into chaos last month when he lost his IBO cruiserweight title to 42-year-old Tarver in a dramatic nine-round stoush that ended when Green’s camp threw in the towel.

A bloodied and bruised Green had at the time refused to confirm if it would be his last fight - instead heading back to his home state of Western Australia to lay low.

It completes a year of drama for Green, who suffered a major health scare and lost 12kg when he needed emergency surgery to remove a massive cyst on his appendix - an incident which nearly ended Green’s career.

The antagonistic Green, who sports many tattoos and has his own brand, the “Green Machine”, is best known for his intense rivalry with fellow Australian fighter Anthony Mundine.

In 2008 he retired from boxing, emotionally declaring his future as a husband, father and grandfather was more important to him than defending his WBA title.

In April 2009 Green defeated Anthony van Niekerk in Perth to officially announce his comeback to professional boxing.

Green has entered the ring 35 times over his career and in a blazing start, won his first 16 fights by KO or TKO.
