Hey guys just a quick question....

My work is a cancer institute working on potential new therapies and we are currently running our first human trials with our new therapy which is going really well. Thing is, we have to pay for each patient and for a small company like ours it is very expensive. So once a year we have a foundation fundraiser (we have a registered foundation) to help pay for this.

My question is, does anyone know if pro fighters are willing or people involved in boxing are likely to donate say some signed stuff to auction off? One year we had an Ali and Frazier signed pair of gloves that went for 1000 after I had it framed. Anyone that could give me a hint on where to start would be awesome!

    Good thread Gonz. :good
Theres a few guys on here who has links to fighters. Hopefully they'll reach out to you and ou can get something happening.

Also, it'd be worth a shot to contact several rugby league's clubs and tell them about the fund raiser, and ask if they could do anything like that.
I knew someone who contacted Souths, and a few other clubs about doing something like this, and they were able to get their jersey's signed by the whole team.

If your company is willing to invest some coin on some jerseys, I'd definitely give the signing thing a crack.

yeah thats another great idea! might try the tigers, souths etc

I know Green does heaps of fundraiser stuff... a pair of signed gloves etc could easily raise a few hundred bucks... especially when you consider that we get about 450 people to the event and everyone is drunk of their asses

    Gonz

Most fighters and rugby league teams get asked a bit so donating something is a bit difficult

however as stated if you are willing to buy a few things getting them signed is pretty easy

thanks for the help in here guys... the event has been pushed back from October 25th to February 26th so we have a bit of time.... should be a great night!

Kamahl is a very close friend of both my bosses due to his daughter having cancer and us helping him out. He has agreed to be both the MC and also the singer/entertainment. I think we are also going to have Matt Hollywood as the magician that goes around the tables, that guy is ****ing amazing. Last time I saw him he was at our table showing us some tricks and at the end he said to me and my date "where are your watches?" both watches were gone and he produced them from his back pocket. I didnt feel mine come off at all, neither did she

For $200 per person you get a 4 course meal, appetizers, unlimited alcohol and entertainment from 7pm to 12am. Where we plan to make money is by a silent auction and a normal auction. The silent auction is normally donated prizes like a signed boxing glove, a day out on a fishing charter, a trip to fiji... anything we can get free or cheap and sell to raise funds. Then the normal auction has some bigger and more unsual prizes. An example is one year a prize was getting to be in the operating theatre with Charlie Teo whilst he performed brain surgery. A once in a life time offer! Didnt cost anything and it went for like 10k! Another one was a bracelet that someone bought for $25,000 after we bought it for $5000... stuff like that. Always a good night, and should we raise $100,000 or so we can put 10 new people on our trial and give them a second chance at life. It is an amazing therapy and very cheap to produce, problem is the hospitals charge an arm and a leg for clinical trials. I am a molecular biologist/medicine student/cell culture biologist and help organise the charity in my down time. We have raised nearly $500,000 and for a small company of 30 people who just throw the occasional party etc that aint bad! I really appreciate you guys offering to help out. Maybe, but hopefully not, I might get the chance to help someone you know that has cancer.
