I didn't watch it all but there was a blatant headbutt at 1.05 and Kessler had Ward wobbled at about 1.55 after which Ward comes up swinging wildly with his head again. How you don't see Ward using illegal tactics is beyond me.

    No, he didn't say that.

Froch said that Ward has never boxed with Mikkel, because their fight was a streetbrawl with holding and headbuts. Therefore the 'win' is not a win in a boxing sense.

Not to mention the constant clinching and then hitting Kessler in the back of the head. It doesn't even look like he is trying to land a legal blow. :bart

Of course it wasn't. The fact that both Ward and Kessler are both boxers and fought in boxing ring in a fight sanctioned by a boxing comission is meaningless.

Good news for Kessler. Ward wants to fight him again. If Ward can get past Froch and Bute, then maybe we can see the rematch.

Ward's win was honourless. A win based on illegal tactics, extremely dirty fighting and an incredibly biased referee.

    Lol.

Oh yeah. Ward would be KTFO. Bute's got one mean uppercut.

Strange the way Kessler said that "the better man won" after the fight.

    Isnt it??

So that's why Kessler lost damn near every round and barely landed any meaningful punches. Hopefully they can rematch. I'm sure Kessler will do much better next time. Hell, he may even win a couple of rounds this time.

Kessler isn't an excusemaker. He did mention the rough stuff though, but concluded what you wrote.

If Ward fights the same way outside America he'll be DQ'ed fairly early.

I looked at 1:05. It looks like there might have been contact, but hard to tell because neither Kessler nor Ward indicate (by touching thier own heads) a butt occurred. So "blatant" seems to be the wrong word.

Second, at 1:55, Ward is caught with a good punch and then he holds on a bit. I don't see any "wild swinging" of the head and even if I did, surely you don't think it's illegal to move one's own head in a boxing match. It's true that stiff Europeans stand upright with little head movement, but surely you understand that this is a stylistic decision.

    ("Andre, point deduction!"

    "why?"

"Illegal moving of your head! You must keep your head stationary at all times! If I see you move your head again, you're DQ'd!")

    At 2:05:

A perfectly delivered straight right hand from Ward.

After Ward is staggered at 1.55 he quickly swings his head towards Kessler. There appears to be no contact, but there was a definete intent of causing damage with the head.

When you throw your skull towards the opponents face it's a foul. Leading with your head is also a foul. Either you are an extreme, delusional nuthugger or Bernard Hopkins taught you the rules.

Do you condone breaking the rules?

When the tournament was announced, Ward was the outsider... which, in hindsight was a crazy move by the bookies. I knew about Ward before this tournament & I backed him at 12/1 to Win the tournament.

    And Win he will!

    Yes.

He has a rangier, stiffer jab. No way Ward takes his chances in a boxing match.

Expect Ward to take inside Froch's long arms, and try to win in a similiar fashion to Green and Bika.
