That already happened when Mundine chose to vacate the title he won off Geale rather than fight him in the mandated rematch.

There's no point including this under your posts:

'Former Mundine nuthugger. Now just an onlooker..'

    when you you are still a plain-as-day, all-day, every-day, nut-hugger Gav.

It's also pointless trying to reason with you when you refuse to accept what is straight forward to anybody else.

Here you are spewing bull**** again. :patsch
Is an IBO ordered rematch a good enough reason?

Just because your boy hasn't lived up to your expectations, doesn't mean you need to spew venom on someone like Geale, who will have a go at making it to the top.
    He may even succeed. :good

a.) Your beige Superman has made a career out of this, yet not fulfilling 1/10th of his prophecies.

b.) No real reason? It was a mandated rematch which in turn saw your hero become a 'Pioneer' and run to 154lbs to face Medley. Oop's that's right, he didn't face Medley at 154lbs, he simply moved the goal posts a week prior and made the fight at 160lbs!

so what if a rematch was mandated. Does that make it the best option for a fighter?

I think both Mundine and Geale were working towards a rematch, but both camps agreed to sit on it for a while whilst they chased a few other targets. They could have made it a good fight in 2009, but thought an even bigger one on 2011. Mundine getting KOed kinda messed that plan. Geale was a bit shocked calling the fight.

Sure I know I come accross as still been a nuthugger. No doubt the past preceeds me. I know Mundine is very selective in situations, they always try to have everything their way. Basically they just try to screw everyone. Undercards are a joke, its hardly even sport. When I lay out my few bucks to watch Mundine-Alverez I will be pissed about yet another joke undercard. Of course Mundine's constant self promotion and name dropping is what brings him critics, and rightfully so. You can't have it both ways.

But I don't think Mundine is scared of any fighter. They all take on all comers if it works out best.

    Gav,

That is one of your very worst posts yet and that is really saying something. Were you on a different planet when that was playing out? Serious question.

    well a different country.

But didn't they do a show in Tassie together, road to rematch or something. I fell asleep by the time Mundine chased that fella around.

The IBO, Grange and Geale did everything bar dragging Mundine by the ear to a rematch and he ran the other way as fast as his legs would carry him.

To suggest there was anything even slightly mutual about it - like you have above - is just plain ignorant of the truth.

how come Mundine was keen to fight Geale as soon as Geale won the IBF 160 title.

Grange should have just boycotted association with Boxa, like no co-promotion and no allowing Medely to fight Mundine.

I am very certain that there are reasons beyond Mundine being scared. Or the mythical ducking as it is said.

Does anyone really think a fighter so called ducks anyone? TC says Green ducks Cunningham and Huck. But why should Green fight them when he makes much more money at less risk fighter other fights. Tarver was probaly less risk than those two, but made much more sense.

When guys are the real champs (Pac, Martinez etc) you think they duck anyone? there may come a time when their management see a guy coming through and is a danger, and may delay that option. But you can be assurred that the champ will have no problem fighting them.

Take a guy like Katisidis. They say he ducks no one and fights anyone everywhere. Sure he does no doubt, he is a fighter and he proves it. Then they say he is managed poorly. But how would he be managed well? By being more selective, building up to bigger fights and taking calculated paths you would say. But then he would be called ducking certain guys. You can't have it both ways.

I say scap the ABC belts, get rid of self-promoted fighters like Mundine, Green in Aus, and Haye, RJJ overseas and just have a universal company who is both promoter and govering body (as such anyhow), it would then be in their best interest to have competive fights all the time and not build records.

    Bottom line:

Mundine was the IBO MW champ after beating Geale by controversial SD, Grange lodged a protest, IBO reviewed the fight, ordered a rematch, Mundine vacated the IBO MW title to fight Medley at JMW, claiming he would be the first man to win titles in 3 divisions moving down, then changed the weight back to MW 1 week out from the fight.

You can't get a more blatant duck than that.

So what your saying is monopolise the sport and eliminate all competition ? Sorry, but thats never a good thing in any sport and it wouldn't work in boxing.
