He lost and beat Funeka, past his best, he had a diagnosed thyroid problem that affected his making weight by that stage. It doesn't mean he wasn't elite at the time. BTW Barrios was overweight against Guzman too.

And yes Pac (or his management) were cherry pickers, picking David Diaz instead of Marquez 3 or Guzman or a top LW. We all know how Freddy 'I've seen your last 2 fights' Roach likes to pick them :yep

Bottom line you're a hypcrite and nearly every fighter uses the risk reward ratio to an extent, even Ray Robinson

I think I may have unearthed a moron to match Nallege or Headbanger here.

One day, I hope to log in here and see Carlos Baldomir referred to as just Carlos Baldomir, without a mention of 'lineal champ' in close proximity whenever his name is mentioned. Floyd fans don't realize they are decimating their own credibility by continually mentioning 'lineal champ' in lame attempts at enhancing a mediocre win over a cherrypicked, **** opponent. :deal

 Yes, because an unknown Filippino fighter with 2 KO losses on his record was in a position to do the 'picking' alright. Christ Almighty.

 You call me a hypocrite.

You never stop going on about how Pacquiao ducked Guzman.

Yet the Guzman factor seemed curiously absent from your lengthy post in a thread called "My thoughts on the career of JMM" by lufcrazy:

Yet by my reckoning, Marquez and Guzman were in the same weight class from 2007 to 2010.

So why no mention of Marquez ducking Guzman then?

    A little hypocritical, no?

    Agreed,

ad the fact that he's never lost and frankly I think its reasonable to rate Mayweather higher.

Barrera at time of first PAC fight was a master, on a great run of form.

Unless the count the first (push) then Pac whitewashed him.

Absolutely. I don't think Nelson was ever rated as p4p the best in the world, whereas Floyd held that rating for years. In all fairness though, Nelson fought in an era where you had the likes Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, Thomas Hearns, Cesar Chavez, and Pernell Whitaker. We don't have that sort of a list today. Nevertheless I agree that Floyd should rate higher.

@Magoo exactly. Floyd was rated no.1 in an era that wasn't too strong.

And, overall Hopkins>Floyd all day long.

For the record, I don't think its a clear shot as to who should rate higher between Floyd and Nelson, but I can see arguments for both sides. Nelson defeated what was arguably better opposition, while Mayweather has managed to acheive success in 5 weight classes and remains unbeaten. I guess it depends on one's personal criteria. Now, in the unlikely event that Mayweather FINALLY signs to fight Pac, and manages to win, then its a no brainer.

Well I have him at number 40 and the only man on my list i'm not confident about is kid gavilan but I plan on doing a detailed look into his career.

Fancy an attempt at naming the 50+ well there's obviously gonna be like the default top 20 or so guys, but after them could you think up 40 or so guys who aren't the obvious ones at the top (robinson, duran charles etc)

Not only had he decimated the field at 154 (including Vargas and Reid, two seriously talented fighters, Reid moreso IMO) he had decimated a top 5 middle of the time in Joppy.

    Hop' put on a masterclass.

    Seriously, abysmal stuff lad.
