In the context of that song, those lyrics make no sense. Probably just wanted to see if he can rhyme that in there.
It would be cool to have list of songs that reference boxers: Here are a few I know: "Hit you like Pacquiao, Philippines Philippines" -- Lupe Fiasco - I don't wanna care right now "on a tube i'm just watching Pacquiao box em up how would I know HBO will get shot of us sittin so close that we almost got snot on us" -- Jay Z - Thank you. "heatin up like mayweather, dog im on that floyd ****” -- J. Cole - Who Dat "that mayweather money lookin funny in the light" -- Rick Ross - Mafia Music "i'm realer than real deal holyfield" -- Dr. Dre -- Nuthin but a G thang
:yep "You ever see someone who roll with Mayweather, rhyme like Ricky Hatton Smash whatever you throw, 1000 is what I'm battin' Got a few hooks but no jabs Took'em out your corndog books and notepads" GZA is the man.
I don't like rappers at all. They just talk **** and glorify a life that they haven't lived themselves and isn't enjoyable. The **** they come out with leads young kids without any guidance astray. I know because I seen it mess up mates. It's ok for kids in middle class back grounds or even ussually poor back grounds who have good parents to guide them but for kids with out that, this type of **** is misleading. I have no dought that if you stopped rappers talking about gangs, guns, drugs etc crime levels would drop and they should do that because that life isn't cool when you have a 20 stone bloke breaking your back doors in who your sharing a cell with for 20 years. SERIOUSLY? How can any Mayweather fans cling on to a gimp like this slating a warrior like Pacquiao if that's what he meant? Tell him to get in a ring with Pac and say that.
atsch "Catching weight" means buying a large quantity of drugs, like a dealer "pushes" weight and that means he is dealing drugs. So, the lyric is essentially a double entendre for Royce being street and buying/selling drugs while also criticizing Pacquiao's catchweight demands. He is making fun of Pac in case anyone is wondering.
The Crime rate was higher in the 70's and 80's before rap became popular. The crime rate now is at its lowest since the 50's. The surge in crime coincided with the drug boom of heroin and crack. The crime rate is going down now because of the aging population. Rap has little to do with influencing someones lifestyle. The vast majority of rap isnt violent at all. Infact its fairly soft. Oh and the rappers being quoted in the majority of this thread, do participate or have seen what they rap about.
Here is Floyd's new rap song. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KArQJusUF1s&feature=feedu[/ame] Not everyone from Michigan can rhyme. Philty Rich Records' CEO can't rap either.:rofl:roflatsch
MW - What a load of bollocks. I remember going around smashing windows with my mates so I could be a criminal and smoking weed to be like Eminem and 50 cent. The truth is kids try to be like their idols and if they don't have support it can lead them asstray. They also glorify bling culture which most of the people listening to the music can't achieve without crime. They also glorify crime itself. These rap stars are just ****ing idiots who get played by their managers. Maybe some have been involved in gangs but there's nothing good about that and the music producers behind them would not go near them if they could not control them completely. Half of these tossers have to cast couch their way to stardom just like the rest. I've seen statistics that prove mass coverage of serial killers in America produces more of them + copy cat killers. How then do you think glorifying gang life to youg people doesn't do the same? Rap also promotes racial tension imo. I don't mind rap, just hate gangser rap.
Floyds awful at rappin lol. :rofl Here's Willie the Kid, he from Grand Rapids [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3uq0_mpo8Y&feature=related[/ame]
