This particular fight will not happen because Banks is too dangerous and a loss endangers future pay-days.
James Toney has to understand that the has to take a fight for low money in order to get a big fight. This has been James problem for years now. You do not have to be a genuis to figure out that taking a fight for 15K and then a bigger fight for let's say 150K is better than just training for months and making no money at all or fighting circus MMA fight that won't probably even happen and is bad for medical reasons. I agree that 15K is too little, but James is playing with fire while negotiating because the Banks fiht is about the only option left for him boxing.
The truth is James is not in position to ask for big pay days right now.He needs to show the world that he can still back it up while beimng in shape. The legend will only become a factor again when he backs it up. James needs to understand that the heavyweight landscape is so poor, that only one win against the likes of BAnks will ensure him a very big fight. I hope that if they up that offer to let's say 50K , he will take the fight.
sounds like all he had was a verbal promise for a klitschko fight, and Toney has to know that's not going to happen. If there was a contract and he had it in writing, then yeah, take the 15k for a tuneup. But all he was gonna get was the 15k and he knows that.
