how comes pacquiao does 12 week camps? mayweather used to regularly train 5-6 months intense, dont see him overtraining.:smoke
Cotto is a game fighter, not afraid of mixing it up or getting hit. His body attack was deadly and at that weight he was very durable as well. It would be a tough fight, but I think Cotto would of won.
Yes, and Depends how much work is put, so its has to be done in the right amounts a day, Alex has a weekly plan in Khan's case, its just a case of timing and peaking at the right time. In this case for the Maidana fight Khan started sparing Manny in his second week of the camp. Knowing Khan he wants to impress and do well vs Manny even in sparring and this must led to him forcing to early in the camp to spar well. There was a artical over on the scene where Khan said that Roach wants me to take it easy as he thinks i might peak too early in this 12 week camp.
so he pushed himself int he first 2 weeks of his 12 week camp so he overtrained huh? what university did you get your sports and nutritional science degree from brah?
Its common sense you slowly work your way into camp, in a 12 week camp first few weeks should not be intense, so in other words in the first few weeks of a long camp you should not be sparring P4P No.1 Pacman.
I agree. Khan would have his moments, but Cotto is ultimately too strong and too powerful. Folks forget- Khan isn't exactly a defensive wizard. Maidana is not exactly an offensive maestro, and yet he found the mark in the later rounds against Amir. Cotto would do the same and finish him.
In Cotto's prime, I'd pick the same thing. Now though he's older, slower, and his punching power at 147 was good but not a factor that could turn the fight around like it frequently did at 140. If Cotto was 2-3 years younger and hadn't taken the punishment he did against Margarito and Pacquiao, I'd pick him in a heartbeat. Now, I think he's a little too far on the downside to pull it off.
