I don't think there's much chance of Arum putting Garcia in with Gamboa, for obvious reasons.

Top Rank have been disappointing in the way they've handled Gamboa's career. He's never going to be a cash cow, so they should throw him into as many hard fights with as many top fighters as they can. That's the only way he can fulfil his potential and he could even become very popular amongst hardcore fans.

but honestly, what more do boxing fans want?

Gamboa is the perfect fan friendly fighter.

Should have been Lopez before he fought Salido...

I don't know. Smaller fighters are always at a disadvantage anyway and, with him not bring Mexican or Puerto Rican, he doesn't have an in-built fan-base. I agree though, in a fair world he'd be one of the most popular fighters in the world because few top fighters are as fun to watch.

Yeah. Like I said maybe the Lopez Fight (still very viable) would have open more eyes.

Probably so, but his skills and attributes are elite though. Even in his last fight, where he looked great there was a moment in the first or second round where Solis threw a strong uppercut that was only an inch or two from landing that could have cause some damage cause Gamboa avoided the punch by backing up his neck in the air.

Maybe he should left Cuba for Mexico instead of the US. He would of been the next Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles, with all of Mexico behind him!!! :freddy

No Solis is B- level and Mtgawa is even less then that his best win is losing to JuanMa and he was a 122 pounder when he fought Gamboa.

And Like I said Salido isnt THAT good and still dropped him. Gamboa can smile all he wants but he still got dropped and a better fighter with more power could(and have) do much worse to him.

Well in Jones prime he only got knockdown once and was never vulnerable like Gamboa has been so that uppercut that missed from Solis could land the next time its thrown by another fighter.

Gamboa's been sitting on the backburner way too long..

He hasn't been fighting enough it seems.

and I think Donaire is the man to do it..

Being knocked down isn't the same as being hurt. I've been down once in my life from a grazing punch that tipped me off balance when I was pivoting. Didn't hurt at all, barely even noticed i was hit, just got hit at the right time.

Gamboa's getting up and fighting, so imo he's not in danger of a knockout. His commitment to footwork means you can sometimes catch him, that's all.

Lopez was always the one gonna get knocked out with his stamina issues and trading mentality. Gamboa imo is not going to get knocked out any time soon, he's just too good.
