It would be alright if Green fought an eliminator before fighting Tarver, but given it's the IBO that would never happen.

It's hard to feel excited about this fight given the comprehensive manner Green was defeated last time around.

One idea could be to have this fight as part of a mini cruiser tournament with the other champions, that could be quite interesting. Otherwise, it could work well as a co main event, but I doubt that would be the case either.

Fair enough mate it is a good decision from Green's financial point of view I suppose but from a boxing fans point of view it is pointless and is bad for the sport.

how is it bad for the sport? two live opponents fighting each other, one whom was humiliated on his home turf looking to avenge defeat , and its not as though the first fight was a snoozefest.

no im not, it was fair to make the assumption that tarver was shot before the first fight, however it has been seen that hes still live and dangerous, are you saying that greeny is shot? or are you implying any fight between involving these two fighters be it against each other or another is "bad for the sport"? im asking fair and reasonable questions, no need to use profanity francis

Wouldn't it be better for the sport if Tarver went on to challenge maybe Steve Cunningham on American soil and if Green decides to fight on either commit to 175 or 200lb and fight a live contender to see where he is at after such a devastating defeat.

Surely this option is both better for the sport and the viewing public ?

I agree with you and thank you for justifying your point of view mate :good but its hardly bad for the sport imo. I also would love to see tarver v cunningham . I think green is stuck in limbo where he can no longer make lhw otherwise he would have considered that already.

If this fight does take place the only way it is taking place on us tv is on a shobox card. Shobox put on max 50k per show so no money will be made. Does not make financial sense all. All the remainder of Showtime championship boxing dates and money are taken up with the super 6 final, the Bute and Kessler card in Nov and the reserved date for the agbeko vs mares rematch.

Yes I also agree that it would be extremely hard for Green at this stage of his career to make 175 in a healthy fighting condition. I just feel that he can't really face the top guys at 200 with a realistic chance of victory and fighting lightheavyweight guys at catchweights is just silly. I suppose it depends on how motivated he is and how many more fights he wants to have before he retires for good.

I'm seeing Green do a chicken dance Zab Judah would be proud of from another fight with Tarver.......6 figures and not a braincell left to enjoy them....

Tarver is one, who's the other?

This is a waste of time, Green was utterly out classed, why would anyone condone another one sided beat down?

It is bad for boxing IMO.

Spot on m8, Shobox wont have 1.5 million to pay Tarver or 1 million to pay Danny, we have established and can agree that Dannyboy is doing this just for the money, with that in mind the USA option as Kegsy has pointed out is not financialy viable, the only way it would be is if they had it on PPV in USA, however given Danny doesnt have a following in USA and Tarvers following is not that great either, no PPV network will pick it up, it will be telecast for free.

Danny knows this, its why he has put it back onto Team Tarver. Playing Games, if he was legit then he makes Tarver an offer, he then allows Managment to run the show and his focus is on training only which is what should have been occuring all along, he has that many people around him i would find it hard to belive he was stressed out on the night, fact is Danny is to proud for his own good and he played right into Tarvers hands. Danny cant box very well and is a good brawler, brawling a boxer like Tarver wont work and we seen what happens when he tried to box him, the rematch will be no diffrent they know this.

He wants that IBO belt back so he can call himself a champ and contuine on the farce circus he calls Green Machine Promotions. As for Cunningham that fight will NEVER happen, he has been ducking Cunningham for sometime now.

I dont understand how people can see what he is doing in any other way. Of course Tarver wants this fight but no way in hell he gets paid the same money if this is in USA, he would be lucky to get 10-20k, given his last paycheck against Danny was 1.5 million dollars do you girls HONESTLY belive this will go down in USA?
