I feel that Lewis used his physical advantages extremely well, fought to his strengths and with great ring intellect. But, I absolutely feel as though Bowe was a better all around fighter. He had a great jab, sharp right cross and tremendous infighting skills with a solid body attack. He also had a superior corner as well, soory Emanuel NOBODY touches Futch. And to say that would not make a difference is way far from the truth. futch would devise a plan to get Bowe inside of Lewis, where Lewis would be in serious trouble. Bowe was probably THE best infighting tall heavyweight in history. All taught by the expert teaching of Futch. Prime Bowe I feel could take Lewis thunder, and I think he`d outbusy Lewis and take it from him. Bowe (in truth) was never the same after winning the title. futch said that newman took Bowe to Europe and when they came back, Bowe was very heavy and he never regained th muscle tone that he had before.

I agree that Bowe's skills are a tad underrated. I think a motivated prime Bowe is
more talented than a prime Lewis. Bowe has a better chin, and more heart.
Lewis obviously has a great jab, dynamite right hand, and is very clever when he wants
to be. I love the rhythm of lewis jab right before he opened up Vitali with a right.
I agree that lewis has the edge from the outside with the better jab and has good
Inside skills, with Bowe having the edge inside. However I think Bowe would want to
Avenge his olympic loss, and Bowe could lure the cocky lewis into a brawl. I see Bowe
landing a big shot either on the inside or passing lennoxs guard in ninth round. Bowe by ko

Lennox Lewis in his entire career never faced a fighter near the caliber of prime Riddick Bowe. He always found a way to fight a big name fighter when they were at the tail end of their career and in the worst fight shape of their careers - always.

In the case of Oliver McCall, he came in prepared and in the best shape of his life and he KO'd Lennox Lewis. The same case with Rahman. In the best condition of his life, he KO'd him glossy eyed stumbling forward into the referee. He had no chin and a crap defense.

Riddick Bowe had a solid chin and at his absolute best was far far better than Lennox Lewis ever was and I would see Bowe ending the night in fashion similar or quicker than Oliver McCall did.

I like Bowe and think he was incredible offensively but Lewis blasts him out of there in a wild one.

Bowe does better against the great small heavyweights than Lewis though. I think the Holy that took out Douglas for the crown takes any Lewis and we saw Bowe beat Vander. Lewis is hard for Bowe because they fight at the same level and Lewis has the straighter shots that would enable him to land first. There's reasons that Lewis didn't get the big fights until later :D

I also don't feel that Bowe was "shot" before the first Golota fight (although certainily overweight and unprepared)..Golota just literally gave him brain damage because Bowe wouldn't go down and that messed him up.

Lewis beats Bowe because a) I think he was a smater fighter (especially if we're talking about in his prime). And b) He intimidated Bowe. This will obviously be counter-argued but that's what I read into their respective body language, especially when seeing them close to each other.

This is probably going to go on for 15 pages like the other Bowe-Lewis threads though.

So really his biggest wins were mostly before and after his prime, so I dont see how he was too green to beat a guy like Mcall.

take 1993 Bowe and put him in with a 1997 Lewis (imo that is prime versions of both.)

we'll see something like the vitali-lewis fight without a stoppage imo. The two would slug it out, bowe would start stronger, but as lewis figures out his timing he'd start to take over about the 4/5th round and would pound out a decision.

Lewis never dominated a fighter with Bowes style either before or after his prime. Mercer and Klitschko were probably the closest and Bowe was better than both easily. Bowe's outside game is also vastly underated. No way Lewis strands Bowe on the outside all fight long. Bowe was too big and strong.

Lewis knocked out Golota in a round who was better than Bowe, a better outboxer and a better in fighter than Bowe, you should watch their fights, you can see Golota is clearly a level above Bowe skill wise

Clearly, thats why he accomplished so much more than Bowe.

bowe is nowhere near "clearly better" than Vitali.

has he had a better peak performance against an atg? of course he has. but has he displayed the longevity, consistency and durability that vitali has? nowhere near. he has a btter jab than vitali but that's it.

Bowe has an overrated beard imo. he was a whisker from being stopped by both holyfield and golota.

    Bowe 43-1
    Klitschko 42-2

Theyve had the same exact amount of fights. Bowes record is better, and if Bowe fought the level of fighters that Vitali has fought he probably could have fought another 50 fights. :hey

People say the same thing about Mike Tyson. Lewis was more consistent. Whats the difference if you have 50 fights over four years or 50 fights over 8 years? That doesnt make you better.
