******s a safe pair of hands from a young boxers point of view, if I was Groves I'd let someone else road test Matchrooms new found interest in pro boxing (Prizefighter and Audley notwithstanding).

I think you have to realise that this will most likely not be a long term thing. The rights of Groves abroad still belonging to Goldenboy means that he will be looking to jump promoter if/when he progresses. This is what Haye ultimately did as a pro he was an opportunist.

Thats not my point really mate. I meant progress from a skills, technical, ring IQ point of view. Progress in the boxing ring.

Getting an ill-deserved Euro challenge after 9 fights and a loss then maybe picking up a spare world title belt outside of the Super 6 and the real cream of the division is'nt the sort of progress I meant.

Whether he deserves a euro shot our not is in irrelevant, the fact that if he beats a good euro fighter in style will be a testiment to his skills.

From his first few fights to how he fights now, you will see how much he has improved. It's sometimes hard to see progression fight by fight.

It still gets me when people say Khan hasn't made much progress in his abilities since joining Roach, but you imagine putting the Khan pre Prescott in with the likes of Maidana, Judah Bradley you wouldn't have given Khan a chance, compared to now where he'd be favorite.... I'm just making the point that it's sometimes easy to say a boxer hasn't improved his skills.

Whether he deserves it or not I wasn't talking about that type of progress anyway! If he beats that good Euro fighter it'll be a testiment to his skills as much as beating Paul Smith was (ie. his promoter got him the right guy)

DeGale was top amateur, has been a pro well over 3 years, I don't see anywhere near the type of progress inside the ring that I'd have thought I would and his promoter guiding him into dodgy title shots is neither here nor there on the skills issue IMHO.

Dunno what to say to you about Khan, I think he has made decent progress under Roach.

You think they would take a pay cut for the fight to happen?

    I don't.

I don't see that. Only way it generates enough money is via PPV.

It could lead into future PPV for the winner though
