This. The Joe Louis type punch resistance. Not iron, visibly buzzed here and there, but the recuperative ability has been outstanding. The way he shakes it off and collects himself is top shelf stuff.

7 out of 10 for Marquez's chin. Has never been stopped, but has shown he can be hurt by single shots. Was noticeably hurt by Katsidis and in the second Pacquiao fight. His warrior's heart obscures the fact he can be hurt by single punches. Some way short of a true "granite" chin. I expect Pacquiao to stop him, probably by accumulation TKO following a knockdown.

...until his legs almost gave way about 10 seconds later and he had to grab the ropes to stay up... then started to walk back to the wrong corner...

his chin is at least an 8

if you take the shots he has from the fighters hes fought you're going down no matter who you are.he also withstood massive hits that should have put him down but instead hes just kept coming

his heart and toughness are still better though

I can say with all honesty that JMM is what is good about the boxing: he trains hard, is intelligent and can adjust to his opponent in the ring, and when knocked down, gets back up and in most cases does even better afterwards. He's got the heart of a true champion, and I'll always remember him as such. It'll be a sad day when he retires from the sport.

    I'd say 7/10.

I'm not all that fussed for knockdowns to be honest, fighters get dropped when they're not particularly hurt all the time, Marquez has been known to be staggered by good but not great punchers like Katsidis in addition to being visibly hurt several times by Pacquiao.

His recovery powers are insane, he's seemingly clear as soon as he's got up and by the end of the 3rd against Katsidis had already regained control and started to dominate again.

There's some fighters that are a busted flush once they're hurt despite having good chins - Marquez is the opposite.

Marquez has an interesting chin, it won't shatter but yet he is constantly knocked down in fights. Considering a prime pac couldn't knock him out in the one round where pac had 3 knock downs i would have to say his chin is above average.

  14. barrera had him hurt bad. he didnt look the same after the kd.

  15. he has a very good chin. 8 in my opinion. he went 24 rounds against pacquiao without being knocked out. who else can claim that?
