I smell fear amongst the Burns haters, their attempts to stain Burns name are getting more pathetic by the day! What next, brit ESB offering a million pound bounty for whatever fighter can end the nightmare of a jock world champion?

Im a bit jealous of Billy Nelson if the truth be told, cos hes kinda stole my mantle as Brit ESB's mad scotsman!!! I never thought I could be outdunky'd, but Nelson is now has taken over my slot as brit ESB's evil scotsman:|

as a scotsman, obv i hope all of our boxers do well and i'm a big fan of burns but John Simpson without a doubt is my favorite fighter. You could argue that his record should be 27-3 not 22-8 (both smith fights, appleby and the slip/knockdown, the DIRTY derry fight and the dazzo fight with only a scoring ref)!
The boy is due a break - hopefully the new IBF champ looks down the rankings and mistakenly sees him as an easy defence!

On topic, I hope Burns does fight Broner. OK he got 12 months before a mandatory could be enforced and a few weak voluntaries were thrown in to make him dough which you cant grudge him but after stepping up and beating Martinez, you want to see if he can do it again!

It would be nice to see the ring mag belt round his waist but lets be honest about Fana - he has fought outside SA twice (in the UK once and US once - sparked by MAB in 2 and a points loss to Dean Pithie) and he is 38 so other than the ring belt and some boxrec points there is no appeal to the fight.

Wouldn't it be great to see another fighter from these shores upset the applecart and beat the next big thing from america? Even if Ricky lost and it was competative, with the HBO execs watching, it may lead to other opportunities!

    Well said. :good

That probably makes you a "jock-hater" or something like that though... even if you're Scottish.

Ring belt is the appeal. Fanas the man, & I want to see Burns get that belt, simple as. Any argument goes out of the window, if you can fight for the ring belt? You fight for it ahead of any other fight. Hopefull sir F of W pulls this one out of the bag for the rickster. Ring champ Burns v Broner? Its going to be a lot bigger than WBO champ Burns v Broner, think about it.

Fana isn't the man, Dunky. Regardless of what the Ring rankings say.

The belt would be nice, but the better matchup is what will get him the respect of boxing fans around the world.

get the ring belt first, then the Broner fight becomes 'the' biggy instead of 'a' biggy as I just said my good man. Its a no-brainer if your a Burns fan.

PS, the ring belt IMO is a whole lot better than 'nice':deal

I'm aware that the attraction of Fana is the opportunity of being Ring Mag champ (although he wouldnt be the first scot to be regarded as best in his weigh class by the Ring - see Lynch, mc gowan, Buchanan, Watt - awarded the belt). And it would be fantastic for him to hold that accolade and accomplish a dream that he holds dear.

As a fan however and from what I have seen of both fighters, I would regard broner as better than fana and would rather see ricky fight the best.

IMO a win over Broner has much greater benefits than a win over Fana

    Agree 100%

And a win against Broner gains him MASSIVE exposure stateside where the dough is!
