Surely sucked, but that was after he said no cutoff. Then they came out and asked for a 14 day cutoff... Matter of interpretation like you said, but seemed like they were playing games at that point or just ****ing with Floyd... Why wait until after he says no cutoff to come with the 14 days? Oh well, we'll see what happens after the JMM fight! :thumbsup

I can't even think of a time when a guy beat the number 1 p4p guy and took his spot afterward except with pernell and JCC
    Look here
    ]1995

    1. Pernell Whitaker
    2. Roy Jones Jr.
    3. Ricardo Lopez
    4. Oscar De La Hoya
    5. Felix Trinidad
    6. Yuri Arbachakov
    7. Kostya Tszyu
    8. Riddick Bowe
    9. Marco Antonio Barrera
    10. Terry Norris

    1996

    1. Roy Jones Jr.
    2. Oscar De La Hoya
    3. Pernell Whitaker
    4. Felix Trinidad
    5. Ricardo Lopez
    6. Junior Jones
    7. Kostya Tszyu
    8. Terry Norris
    9. Evander Holyfield
    10. Mark Johnson

Pernell gave up his spot and didn't lose that year. He doesn't lose again until 1997, but he gave up his spot to Roy Jones. Now explain this to me. This doesn't go with the template you made up in your head

Side not for you guys who question it. Shane Mosley WAS ranked number 3 p4p when Floyd beat him

I'd say 2... Don't really think he passes Pac up unless they fight and he wins, Pac loses to someone else, or Pac retires... Don't see Pac having a horrible outing against anyone not named Mayweather so I didn't put that as an option... Mayweather would have to do some special **** to pass Pac without him losing or looking horrible IMO. Because Pac does a damn good job everytime he comes out.

:good You're one of my favorite Pac fans, but you can go a little overboard sometimes though, but you still know what you're talking about most of the times

  6. Exactly.

you have to beat the #1 to become the #1.

The P4P ratings are a totally different story.

pac vs mosley was an even bigger disgrace. i gave no credit to pac for that.

pac vs marquez 3 is pretty legit. they're more or less around the same weight as each other. i'll give pac his props if he beats him. though not as much as i would have had it been at the 140 limit.

No sir. You're thinking about the RING divisional CHAMPIONS. There isn't a p4p champion bc the top 10 can't challenge him if he's not near their weight.

All the weights have a top 10 and possibly a lineal champ. The p4p list is just a top 10 and it's entirely subjective. Some might vote for Floyd over Pac even if both KO their opponents. The argument would probably be that Marquez jumped 2 weight classes and Floyd knocked off the #1 challenger in the division. I wouldn't really disagree, to be honest.

Under that logic, Pac beating top 5 P4P Marquez supersedes Mayweather beating Ortiz, who isn't ranked in anyone's top P4P lists.

Floyd's had those two fights in the time Pacquiao's beaten Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, Mosley. Martinez has beaten Cintron, Williams (x2 to many), Pavlik, Dzinziurik.

Can't reward Floyd so easily given his inactivity and when those guys are racking up impressive win after impressive win, and especially off a win over a guy like Ortiz who has the style to make him look good and whose credentials aren't that great.

I'll probably have Mayweather #3, and may switch Donaire back in front of him if Donaire does fight this year.

PAC was already number one for over a year even before he fought mosley.
    Wrong analogy.Pls think before posting...

Say what? Floyd fights every year and a half. He's an exhibition fighter and no longer should be in place of the P4P list anymore.

Floyd is off the list for being inactive. When he beats Ortiz he want be inactive anymore.

Does that make sense to you?

Manny has nearly every conceivable physical advantage against a 38 year old fighter moving up two divisions to fight him. A fighter he has had the benefit of fighting twice. If he is really a "totally different fighter" since those meetings, this should be extremely one sided. If not, and Mayweather's performance, after a year or more out of the ring, is dominant, I can't see how Manny should stay at #1. Mayweather becomes #1, Manny #2, Martinez #3, IMO.
