Great comeback from Sweeney as he rallies from 5-4 down after the second (2-2 after the first) to win 10-8.

Russia were always going to Dominate these games, they produce talented amateurs like a conveyor belt.
The lad Sweeney boxes today Korshunov from Russia , Joe Ward beat him last year in a multi-nations in Baku , Sweeney will be up against it , I saw the Russian the other day and he is a very good boxer .
Thanks that's good value compared to McCloskey as long it's not only a few hundred going for £28 and the then a jump up to £38, like McCloskey did with the £30s and £40s at the Odyssey:nono What's with the "we", our you working for Hennessy Promotions now. Interesting comment from Alex McGreevy on Facebook the other day: ...Fair play to Rogan for standing his ground - no doubt he will have better things up his sleeve. The sooner guys like him are managing young fighters like Fury, the better. Anybody agree/disagree with that?
Oh and in regards to that photograph of me and Mr Byrne. It was all we could do to stop breaking into laughter. Bit of a comical afternoon with some of the stuff they were coming out with.

Irish Youths settle for silver at Europeans Michael O'Reilly and Gary Sweeney had to settle for silver at the European Youth Championships which concluded at the Citywest Hotel Convention Centre in Dublin today. http://boxing-ireland.com/20110827_european_youth_boxing_26.html
O'Reilly was robbed blind, somehow He lost even though 3 judges had him winning and the other 2 had it a draw, it shouldnt have been even that close imo, no home town desicions for the Irish this week ! Sweeney looked like he was getting over whelmed in the first by the Russian but the lad is tough as old boots and showed great heart and effort to claw it back and the Russian was out on his feet in the last . This is one of our strongest youth teams and thats even without Joe Ward who could have competed definatley a great future for Irish boxing for the forseable future . BTW the Lithuanian who scooped boxer of the tournament at 64kgs is a beast he stopped 4 of his 5 opponents and battered the Russian from pillar to post in todays final. Fitzpatrick , sweeney are both young enough to compete next year aswel so good times ahead
Lithuania is not a place that you would think would produce great boxing talent, I suppose the odd gem of a fighter can come out of any country once in a while:think
