Going by what you have written, you're just repeating the content of 'The Joe Calzaghe deception...' Youtube videos. They are utter crap. Joe did land hard clean shots. Joe hurt Hopkins several times during the fight.
The good thing is that Hopkins only lost to a whiteboy by decision instead of a tko. His gas tank was emptying until he pulled his oscar moment off.
Without a doubt. As agreed by 85% of ESB posters in the aftermath. There were only three rounds that Hopkins got given by more than one judge. Check the scorecards.
I thought Calzaghe won but he never hurt Hopkins. What fight were you watching? Tell me what rounds Calzaghe hurt Hopkins in?
The people who gave Hopkins the fight probably don't have IQ enough to actually calculate punch output. Not to mention Calzaghe was the aggressor the entire fight. Not to mention Hopkins faked a low blow to get a round off. Calzaghe by UD. and I'm big fan of Bernard, but he got out-thought and out-classed on that night .
Do a search on this website if it has a search function, you will see my comments and replies in this forum regarding that fight have always been what I stated. They predate the video you cited also. Joe landed a good straight left hand at one point, his best punch of the fight. I can't say that it was a hard shot though, as a gassed Hopkins walked right through it. Furthermore, I concede, Hopkins was a bit hurt by the hammer fist to the nuts. It must have been really frustrating watching a youtube video that showed your guy not really landing punches, and slapping at air like a little girl. Regardless, one man continued doing his thing, and one retired to his nose candy, with his tail between his legs, a coward.
Punch output and punches landed are two entirely different things. Video analysis of the fight shows Calzaghe was outlanded, although he threw more punches. Calzaghe didn't land 50 punches that night. Compu Box in true fashion credited him with landing 200+.
Hopkins was never hurt by legal punches in the fight. Calzaghe on the other hand was hurt three or four times, complete with leg bucklage, or a seat on the canvas.
Be honest. Calzaghe was not hurt by that knockdown. He got up quicker than he went down. Joe went down because he squared his feet up. Hopkins did land technically perfect counters, but Joe walked through virtually all of them. Just because they look good it does not mean they are effective shots. You judge how effective a punch is by the opponent's reaction. When Joe landed clean on Hopkins he either held or was sprawled across the ropes.
Calzaghe won a shut fight, end of. Just be glad he didn't win on cuts with Hopkins 4-2 up on the cards, now THAT is a never ending shitstorm from the worst fans in boxing.
