Teddy needs to stop being so dramatic! Thisa fight reminded me of the way he was with Michael Moorer. At times it is too painful to watch.
Teddy also gave him very bad advice in the 12th. He should have told him to do what he had been doing all along. His aggression was smothering Chagaev who was unable to mount offense as a result.
Atlas, King, Kellerman, and all the rest, they're there in the linmelight just to remind you how crooked and gangster infested this sport is.
Yeah, I don't think it was entirely accidental that Povetkin really took over the fight right after Teddy's antics. Look, Atlas is annoying, and he's a terrible boxing commentator, and his style as a trainer sure wouldn't work with everyone. But for some fighters, particularly those who seem to have motivational problems, what he does seems to work. There's a REASON Povetkin begged him to come back.
He gets harder to listen to the longer you listen to his rants. He loves talking bad about Tyson and dissing the popular cash cow fighter of the day, used to thrash De La Hoya, and now Pac is the recipient of his hatred from that bitter complex.
I found it uncomfortable hearing a trainer try and evoke effort from his fighter by bringing up a dead father. I thought Atlas was going to bring up the battle of Kursk next. The real issue I have is that most of what Atlas does does not seem sincere. He does not give a rat's ass about Sasha's dad and is gambling with fragile emotions for personal gain. Sasha did seem to respond to it. He looked like he was on his way out after that 7th round. Sasha really did respond well to advirsity but Atlas will no doubt take credit for it.
