How do you call fighting contenders with 90+% winning percentages padding your record. Haye has 2 losses and 27 wins. Mormeck is 36-4, Ibragimov is 30-3, and Chagaev has lost to only Potvetkin and Klitschko. Those guys are stepping stones, thier A class and Bclass fighters. Fact is, Helenius has never padded his record. He's almost exclusively fought tough competition, and if you look at his KO%, you can see that he's a slow started. None of his decision wins came after the 8th rd. His KO% will continue to rise as long as he keep fighting 10 rds or more. IMO, they need to go backwards with him. I know he seems ready, and is already ranked 3rd, just under Wlad and Vitali(I exclude Adamek because he's going down to 7th next month). No sense in continuing to risk his unbeaten record and his ranking when he could be gaining those intangibles against journeymen and gatekeepers and tomato cans. He should fight Owen Beck next. Then Audley Harrison, then Hasbeen Rahman. Now that's padding a record. And agaisnt nonthreats, where he can utilize his strengths and end the fights faster, more conveniently, instead of waiting for openings or inflicted damage to open a fighter up to his power. Tye Field would be good for him next. Let's not rush this kid. Let;s let his full arsenal develop and then watch him conquer the world.:deal
I see what your saying, but I feel he can beat these name, past it/over hyped fighters like Mormeck, Haye, Timur and Chagaev. TBH the only one of those that has a chance right now is Haye and even then he could only win by a split decision on points through running and pot shotting, which Haye can do. He isn't called the black Ibragimov for nothing after all.
Depends what happens on 9/10 but I'd like to see Wach-Helenius. Two big blokes, big punchers. Throw Fury in the mix.
A strength coach will make him muscle bound, tight and he'd have to then learn to load up to get any power. Power comes from speed and proper torque...body in the right position. He has an old fashioned build, that promotes looseness and speed power. The Rock today would be told to get a strength coach, a six pack and bulk up. Why? It would not have given him any more power. Why screw with something that is working well. When Helenius goes for it, he's very powerful fast. There is no loading up, there is just smooth fluid power. He is much better than he was when I first saw him. I couldn't understand why he was 'the coming thing'. Some nobody gave him a bad time, then he moved across the ring and hit him....short, fast and once. Boom.:admin Bedinko...and me an old Bedinko Fan, Levine and Levine was bulked up huge....Boom. Short fast and fluid punchs. Short powerful punches. Do you know how unusual that is nowadays? And you want to ruin a build that promotes fluid power.:deal
yeah he can punch....but box, not yet. The guy only has 16 fights... yes yes yes he ko'd the formers champs..... but really all of them were done long before the fights To me Helenius needs major footwork and defense work.... the guys he has been beating have basically just stood in front of him... and the white wolf was landing almost at will with the jab and TRIPLE left hooks....... while the future is bright for him and I think he could be great...... put him in with the "A"level guys and he wont survive.... at least not at this point of his career. There is no need to rush him at all. let him develop
We will see what he shows us in his next 4 or 5 fights. I believe Helenius could be the next guy to dominate the heavyweights like the Klitscho's have. Its a little premature now to say but it looks to be shaping up that way.
I agree CHEF. :good Lucky for him the only "Grade A" Great boxers are the Klitschkos, & Helenius has a great chance at beating every "Grade B" ranked contender, with his monumental raw power, which resembles a Mack Truck full of dynamite.
That would be a fantastic fight. :good Adamek should challenge Helenius, after he loses to Vitali. Then the winner can fight Wlad.
