I see the comparison, but Helenius has shown a much better variety of punches- right to the body, hook to the head, uppercut, they are all brutal.
"""weak arms/legs (needs to hit the weights),"""" 100% WRONG!!!!!! How many pretty over muscled, slow, got to load up for power fighters do you want to see. He's got speed in his punches when he throws with power. Speed is power. Loose muscles gives him his speed. He's got enough muckies to do the job. He's loose and limber....and gets his power through that. His 'slow' legs gives him all the torque in the world to go with his fluid speed, when he goes for the kill. Skulpting his legs into Mr. Finn Leg, is not going to make him 'faster', nor stronger. It will make him slower in the fists. Folks would look at The Rock today and tell him to hit the weights, get a six pack, and bulk up and 'get' some power. Don't screw with what works. Yes, he needs to add 1000 sit ups to his daily routine.
That guy is a commited wild shooter and he may well upset Wlad if he's given a chance. You can never know.
:rofl I look ferocious too when I work on heavybag. I dont want insult Lyahovich this way, he is the brave boxing warrior but he is far past his prime, gassed out after 7 and was stationary target.
He would NEVER get in close enough to land on Wlad, his footwork/movement and handspeed is light-years behind Wlad.
Helenius is much faster than he looks and i think sooner or later Helenius get close and we all know wlads chin
Amazingly Liakhovich would have beaten the count and fought on. Massive heart, offensively pretty decent, but doesn't have the defence to fight big heavyweight punchers (despite his chin). I was crushed by that loss but at least he was 7-0 up on rounds at one point and left with an EVT win
To be honest unless he has lost power I don't see anything in Liakhovich to suggest he's past prime. The Brewster fight was one of those great nights a fighter can have, but last night he looked no worse than he was in the Brewster fight. He seemed lighter on his feat and was throwing as much if not more than he did against Brewster. It was just a bad style match up for him. Helenius has shown he is good against even the strongest chinned sluggers (like Brewster and Peter). Liakhovich already showed vulnerability to big heavy hitters (Briggs). Until rounds 8 and 9 Liakhovich looked surprisingly good
Samuel Peter is a contender though isn't he. Sergei Liackovic is an ex champion at the end of the day. How can you critisize his competition. Arreola, Adamek, Chagaev, Povetkin aren't too far ahead of these guys. Is he in the Klitschko's league? No, but he'll be ready in 4-5 fights to give them a tougher fight than the current contenders are. Personally I would say Liackovic is a top 30 contender.
Great meaty uppercut. Helenius is a real slow mover, but if you let him sit down on his shots he can certainly bang well and in good combination too. I think his lack of speed would get him jabbed to a standstill against Wlad, and he'd have to try to outwork Vitali which hasn't been done yet, but against everyone else he has as fair a shot as any.
Damn, Liakovich has been taking endless beatings lately and brutal ones. He needs to retire before something serious happens.
