Al: I also noticed Helenius's many flaws. I believe that he's vulnerable: someone will be beat him before long. Even so, I wouldn't say that Helenius is "awful." The guy does have serious finishing power. When Helenius finds the range with his KO punches, he's devastating. Possibly Helenius had an off night yesterday. In the Peter fight, he showed an effective, persistent jab, and his footwork (nifty circling movement) was good. But we didn't see any of that against Liakhovich. So, possibly yesterday's fight was an anomaly.
You must have been watching another fight if you thought Helenius had no handspeed in his combinations. You are correct in much of the rest of your critique though, Helenius does need improvement, especially on his jab, footwork & defense.
Either Klitschko would destroy Helenius at this point. Liakhovich made Helenius look like a toughman competitor. He's better than that, but he still has a long way to go.
hes got 15 total fights right now,....at the end of the day he is knocking these guys out,,, if you havent noticed, the heavyweight division is a big pile of ****...other than the klits, hes one of the best and most dangerous...sloppy or not..it is what it is...go see how dontay wilder is doing if you thing helinus is so awful
I would give Chambers a good shot at beating him right now due to his speed & elusiveness. However, Eddie may still be shell shocked from that vicious KO he suffered at the hands of Wladimir................ Helenius should fight Povetkin, Dimitrenko or Tyson Fury next. Dimitrenko is like a poor man's Wladimir & it would give him good experience if he can beat him convincingly, especially if it's by KO. Helenius is already a Top 5 Heavyweight, give him some more time before being so critical.
Thanks! I don't give him much of a chance against Wlad, probably ever. But a fight against Dimitrenko could give him the proper warmup for a fight against Wlad. I know Dimi isn't on Wlad's level but he's tall, he does have a good jab, some power & no inside fight game to speak of.
Right now I have the Top Heavyweights as: 1. Wladimir Klitschko 2. Vitali Klitschko 3. Tomas Adamek 4. Alexander Povetkin 5. Robert Helenius
What I saw of Helenius last night didnt impress me at all. As others have said on here, Areola beats Helenius, and Im not a big fan of Areola. A fight with Fury would be interesting but nothing i would mark on my boxing calendar as must see event. Both Klits beat Helenius. I wont go as far as to say win by KO, as to his credit Helenius has shown a tremendous chin so far.
arreola is a big fat choker...heres his routine knock out bums knock out bums lose ever round to the champion knock out bums knock out bums knock out bums get taken to school by a former light heavyweight champ knock out bums knock out bums knock out bums lose to another top 15 guy :deal
I agree. He's taken bombs from Brewster, Peter & Liakhovich and never really seemed buzzed or ready to go....................
