I think this is closer than some might imagine.

Imo the victories, in no particular order, are as follows:

    Wlad - iggy, chag, haye
    Pov - byrd, chambers, chag
    Vitali - peter, arreola, gomez
    Haye - valuev, ruiz, barret
    Adamek - grant, arreola, golota
    Chambers - brock, peter, dmitrenko
    Helenius - brewster, peter, lyakhovic.

I don't think anyone else has worthwhile top 3 victories in the time frame.

So how would you order these fighters based on top 3 victories?

Wlad is clear number 1, imo, but after that it gets quite close to choose between them.

You are right it is pretty close,
the division would be much better if they all actually fought eachother instead of just waiting for a klitschko opportunity.
I think it is something like this when it comes to the wins alone:
    Wlad
    Vitali
    povetkin
    Chambers
    Haye
    Adamek
    Helenius

    Great question.

    Wlad
    Vitali
    Povetkin
    Chambers
    Adamek
    Helenius
    David Haye

I genuinely think pov has a good case for being second here.

Imo vitali, pov and chambers are very evenly matched here.

Obviously increasing the number of wins favours vitali but for a top 3 I don't think he's clear number 2.

It's also ironic how 2 of the best contender in haye and adamek score quite low in the comparisons.

The most impressive to me is helenius, for someone with so few fights, him even being talked about in this way is very very good imo.

I think the Solis victory was a better win than the Gomez one. That, in my opinion, puts Vitali above Povetkin.

Wlad and Vitali are clearly 1 and 2. After that, it's more debatable.

I was wondering which one to list.

Solis was unbeaten as a hw with wins over austin and two gunz.

Gomez was the main man at cruiser and on a decent run in the run up to vitali.

Plus i'm not sure if solis ever cracked the top ten, I assumed he had but someone told me he never actually cracked the top ten so i'm not sure.

    Gomez, peter, arreola

    Byrd, chambers, chag

The more I read it, the better the second list sounds.

does the fact byrd has the win over vitali not make pov number 2??

The problem with Povetkin's top 3 is that Byrd was done by the time they fought. So Vitali's top 3 is better, and Solis should be one of those.

If you mean the RING's top 10, he didn't.

    I did and thankyou.

Gomez definitely did get top ten status. That's why I chose to include him rather than an unranked solis who may or may not turn out to be anything special.

It's not that simple is it.

    It's like balancing the equation.

    Peter+arreola+gomez ~= byrd+chambers+chag.

It's almost equal, there really isn't much in this imo.

I think after these two chambers is next. After then it's anyone's pick.

    Wlad
    Pov/Vitali
    Chambers
    Haye
    Adamek
    Helenius

    Boswell has some underrated wins.

    - McCall in 2011 (still fairly effective and a fringe contender in his late forties)
    - Beck in 2010 (past it and sure to be knocked out by any decent heavyweight, but still a better win than some of those listed...like the version of Golota that Adamek saw)
    - Greenberg in 2008 (exposed as a hype product with a very padded record, but was a much younger undefeated fighter who'd been through some higher-level tomato cans at least. Destroyed him. Not a bad win...)
    - Page in 2008 (respected spoiler known for stealing rounds from even elites in his losses; Boz completely shut him out).

I'm not sure what the top three are, but those are the top four. McCall is his best win, and then the other three are all pretty close all things considered.

He's got to be up there in the top ten in this category.
