The problem with athletics is that so many are blatantly cheating..... over half of the top American sprinters from 1995-2005 have been busted. Chambers obviously did too, even though cheating actually made him worse. Made me laugh when they took the silver medals off the lads in a relay once, it was Chambers that got run down on the last leg :-( We do seem to be at a low point, certainly compared to when we had Christie, Regis, Jackson and Jarrett, all regularly winning medals at worlds/Olympics in their events and 400m runners that made finals at a canter, despite not winning many medals. Can't see any of ours making the final to be honest, the Jamaicans will probably have three and the Americans too. Completely forgot about it today to be honest, will make sure I tune in tomorrow. Edit - just watching the highlights now, Kim Collins was impressive, 10.13 into a 2m headwind in the first round :yikes
hard to know exactly how many are cheating, but yeah it does happen, they should have the steroid olympics imo, the triple jump would become the hop, skip and where the ****s he gone? and yeah it confused me how Chambers came back and did better when off drugs, the Brits can't even do that properly either! haha I didn't realise Kim Collins was still that good either! think the jamaican's and american's took it easy though in comparison, i like the jamaican Yohan blake aswell or however u spell it, think he's only young aswell so one to look out for
Collins was always good, didn't think he'd still be competing at this level in his mid 30's. How he was able to win it back in the day I'll never know.... just looked in Wiki his PB is 9.98. That must be a mistake surely? If that's true how the hell did he ever make finals? In most championships now you need to be under 10 flat to qualify.
9.98 is that all? that has surprised me too i would have thought he'd ran faster aswell! saying that though i remember when he won it it was a very weak field, maurice green was the best and he went out in the semi's for a DQ i think (that could be wrong tho) and now days the standard is unbelievable, not so long ago it would be an achievement to see one person run under 10 seconds, now, like you said, they all do it in the final
