(Disclaimer, the views expressed in this thread do not represent the views of the thread starter. They are simply and application of views from the hardcore Fedor fans onto his own resume) So it's been brought to my attention that the only viable and logical explanation for the GOAT recent losses are he's shot to ****. Not past Prime, not unmotivated, not suffering from technical flaws, not suffering for not changing up and improving his skill set. No, he's shot So I am taking this opportunity to re-evaluate Fedor's legacy but looking for the fighters he's faced and beaten during his career who can also called shot So let's start with his last win Brett Rogers - Came in off a career high win against Arlovski. But in between that, he must have become shot because he then went to lose two in a row Andre Arlovski - Has been shot since his two losses to Tim Sylvia in 2006, and went on to lose his next 3 after his loss to Fedor. Clearly shot Tim Sylvia - After lsoing to Randy Couture in 2007, went on to lose the next 3 out of 4 fights he had. Clearly shot by the time he fought Fedor Hong Man Choi - Was clearly shot after his 1st victory against Bobby Olgun going into his fight with Fedor as he went 3-1, with that one win coming against Jose Conseco. Shot Matt Linland - His win over Carlos Newton clearly took it's toll going into his next match up with Fedor as he went 2-5 after it. SHOT Mark Hunt - Clearly shot when he faced Fedor as that loss was his 2nd in a string of 6 straight defeats. SHOT Mark Coleman - Lost 4 straigh in the 97-99 period and went on to lose another before his match with Fedor then went 4-5 in his next 9. Shot Zulu = won 9 straight, but was clearly shot the when he faced Fedor as he only 4-7 in his next 11. Shot Kohsaka - went 1-5 in 01-02 winning his next 3 before the Fedor fight. But he was clearly shot by then Randleman - had two spells of losing two in row row. But after going 1-3 in 03-04, got a fight with Fedor. After that one win in 04, only won 2 of his next 13. Clearly shot Nagata - 2 fights, 2 losses. SHOT! Goodridge - 17-13 going into the Fedor fight, SHOT! Herring - Lost his next fight after the Fedor defeat, going 9-5 after. Clearly shot Schilt - lost two in a row in 1999, debatable, but **** it. SHOT! Haseman went 2-5 in his last 7. SHOT! Hasdell - 4-9 in his entire career. Lost 5 in a row, picked up 1 win, then fought Fedor. Shot! Yanagisawa -24-20 going into the Fedor fight. Enough said Schall W4 in a row L2 in a row then picked up another win before the Fedor fight. Clearly shot
So in closing the fighters who were not shot by the time they face Fedor are Big Nog Cro Cop Ogawa Fujita Valavicius Arona And Sobral Best resume in MMA? So untouchable it's not even a debate? Over too you guys
So you are saying fedor isnt shot just because he lost 3 in a row. But which one of those guys had 28 consecutive wins before being stopped three times one by submission and two tkos. He went from being in another league than his opponents, to looking beatable, to losing 3 straight, conveniently when he reached his mid 30's. Doest sound like severe decline at all. And please dont smear your good name by speaking of the new breed of mma fighters......
But read the list, those guys were shot too. Ive not mentioned his losses as he's clearly shot to ****. We are talking about his wins, those guys in the OP are shot. No question about it.
I do think Fedor is shot now, or at least very close to it, approaching it - rapidly. He's undeniably well, well past his prime now. I've already explained why elsewhere, only the other day in fact. Anyone who is interested can hunt it down.
Fedor isn't "shot" now... He finally fighting people who stylistically stand a chance against him. He could still win plenty of fights in the heavyweight division.
Id say past prime sure, but too me, shot is being unable to compete due to an irreparable erosion in ability or physical attributes, at least at the highest level in this case. Fedor's in decline, no doubt. But shot, not for me. He could have won both the Werdum and Hendo fights quite comfortably for me personally. He didnt, and I dont think he lost them due to my definition of shot
No argument from me there But I know it's been done to death and been talked about. Like Popkins said, his views are in another thread. The reasons have been addressed, Im dealing with the excuses, there's a difference Why give no credit to Werdum, Big Foot, and Hendo's victory for it being down to Fedor being shot, when he has so many guys on his record who could be considered the same, easily. Is he the GOAT, in the midst of GSP and Anderson's title reigns, who besides the win over another ATG in Big Nog, have more strength in depth, but Im still hearing it's not up for debate, Fedor the GOAT So come on Fedor fans, I want answers, or stop posting this stuff in other threads.
