Not that I think he's yet a threat to either K2, but his workrate seems to be his strategy. I've said this about 5 times now, and w/o reply or rebuke. When I watched his fights were he's KOd a guy, he is almost always looking very slow, almost plodding and predictable. He hypnotizes his opposition into believing he doesn't have any kind of killer instinct, they soften their defenses believing he's no threat, then suddenly, outta nowhere his opponent is caught with a L hook, UC, or a R cross/straight, and they're wobbled, or in some cases KTFO. We see it on tv and think it's a disability, a weakness. I'm in no way comparing him to George2, but Big George would often be far behind on the cards, when suddenly, he'd drop that OH R onto his opponents forehead or that L hook into his opps cheek, and it over. Helenius has that kindof style, and I, for one, have been impressed with it since his KO of Gammar back in 07. I even made a post, perhaps the first of it's kind, calling Helenius the heir apparent to the K2 throne. Many disagreed, but he, like Wlad did, is proving me right.:deal
He's thrown the right hook before but when you have such a good straight that comes from the unusual angle he throws it at (due to his height) - you're not going to work the hook as much because it requires you to open up your stance. Name me a fighter who consistently throws the right hook. The uppercut, again, he's thrown it, he's thrown it heavy and he caught Sam Peter with it in their second fight, but with his height, it's not really a punch he's going to have too many opportunities to throw. Punch variation isn't really a lacking area, throwing a six punch combination doesn't mean putting six different punches on the board, it's about linking your punches and making it work best for your style. Wlad's height and physical strength means 1-1-2-1-3-1-1 is as effective a combination as any multiple punching flurry Pacquaio throws in my view.
Eubank in reverse, Eubank used to walk out there, looking like he was open to being hit and then throw a massive overhand right, generally in the first 5-10 seconds of the fight. Then he'd go into his usual boxing style and every now and again, walk in from the start of the new round and try the same thing - saw him catch a few pewople with it too.
Juan Manuel Lopez, Miguel Acosta. J Gonzalez has a decent right hook which he uses often. I just feel that he doesn't really use a lot of punch variety, but I mean, if he doesn't really need to then you can't really criticise him for it. I'd just like to see him mix his shots up a bit more (though I won't lament him for not doing it, when he does so well with straight shots and left hook)
No man, you are ignorant... so ignorant, You don't know nothing about boxing if you talk nonsense like this How a man who don't thrown a single uppercut in a fight, don't work the body (he barely throw a single shoot to the body in a fight), don't know how to fight inside, don't counter punch can be consider the most complete heavyweight of all time? Sure Wlad is a very good boxer, but the most complete of all time? No way.
I'm warming to Wlad, but I still thinks he looks like a giant robotic spaz whenever he tries to throw an uppercut.
Which is why you're ignorant, you believe working the body and throwing upper cuts is a requirement of being complete. Lewis hardly ever worked the body, Vitali only works the body when he's ****ing around - Why? Taller fighters don't generally work the body because it leaves them open due to how much they have to crouch to land it. If you could read, you'd see I said his height, power, tactics, etc - all contribute to him being greater than others. Part of that tactic is not throwing body punches or uppercuts due to his height. Roy Jones Jr is technically the most offensively complete HW fighter of all time in my view, but he's not the most complete fighter. Now, **** off.
I think his post said he was ONE OF THE MOST COMPLETE HWS today. NOT the most complete HW of ALL TIME.:rofl
No, he is all time one of, if not the most complete HW fighters when you combine all of the things an opponent has to get past in order to beat him.
He's #6 ATG on my HW list, and could move to 3rd with 10 more successive defenses. But he is ONE of the most complete, not THE most complete. IMO that is.
Ok I undestand... you're not ignorant, you're moron. Complete means complete period. Wlad don't work the body because he is not able and not because he doesn't need. Same things for the counter punching. Usually the uppercut is one of the better punch for a tall fighter.
Wow. What I like most about Helenius is his attitude. Completely positive. No fear. No blinking. And his counters. And I don't remember seeing a more complete finisher. You can see it in his eyes.
If you're unable to provide counter points, I suggest you shut the **** up. PS, I've been in the ring with Duddy.
Helenius is a big fat slow goon, he is little better than a club fighter. The Klitschko would make easy work of him.
