When Jimmy Young beat George Foreman..at least the judges didn't steal this one from him...
when Willie Pastrano narrowly squeaked by Harold Johnson in '63..

Fuk, you know when beer makes you all nostalgic and gives you a sense that everyone is really interested in what you have to say?

One of my favourite boxing moments was hatton dropping collazo in the first round. I genuinely believe that unless you are a manc (fukin hate associating myself with the scum but it's my nearest city) student, you could never appreciate how great that was.

Bear in mind as a uni student you think you have it all figured: 2 grand has just been put in your bank (genuinely feels like you've won the lottery going from spence and ema to student grants and loans) you are able to get sex pretty much every time you walk into a club (especially the second year when you realise all uni girls are sluts) and you're in the uni bar completely shitfaced as hatton walks out to the ring trying to conquer another weight (as a casual fan there was no concept of paper championship, this was the real deal) and FUKIN BOOM round 1 hatton drops him, like riding the crest of a wave that was.

Hatton mania was something else. Truly a great time to be a carefree tax dodger who's into sport. We didn't see him struggle, we saw him stand his ground and fight. We saw him put it all out there and emerge victorious knowing eventually the american god (floyd) would have to face him.

Now I sit here downing peroni (fukin underrated lager) getting tingles down my spine texting this (thank fuk for autospell) the crazy thing is hatton was never my favourite boxer. But if you were a northerner interested in boxing you couldn't escape the hype.

Seeing him drop collazo like that was amazing and something i'll never forget.
