What is the obsession with Wilder on here? He is clearly a work in progress, he needs time to develop as well as put on weight- he's 6'7 and started at ~200 lbs. He's only 25 years old.

 

I think some fear Wilder will develop, and it scares them a bit, he's raw but he's working, I wish him the best.

LOL, are they serious? I would favor Helenius, Fury, and Price over Wilder, by quite a bit too.

 

Wilder isn't a "work in progress", he's a "never will be".
Forget Wilder and focus on other American prospects if you want somebody to cheer for, cause this guy isn't going to make it. he will be the next Tye Fields.

Wilder is two years away from beating even C-level opponents. I think people don't appreciate how raw he is. He's being managed very well, in my opinion. Hardcore fans may get frustrated, but the American public has no idea he exists.

By the time he's 27-28, he'll be ready to step and begin fighting on tv. He'll be considered young and fresh, and hopefully by then he could be competitive against faded names (by then) like Arreola.

 

Who is going to want to see Wilder at MSG?

 

You know, as long as we're talking about good money fights rather than competitive fights, I think the poster that suggested Kimbo Slice is on to something. Kimbo Slice has HUGE name recognition in the United States - even casual fans remember him from his internet superstardom days and then his later stints in the UFC. Sure, he probably won't last three rounds against Wladimir, but sadly he would still probably bring in a bigger crowd than 90% of the current heavyweight prospects available. Thoughts?
