-Rafael Herrera -Chucho Castillo -Rodolfo Martinez -Lionel Rose -Orlando Canizales -Jeff Chandler Thanks for any thoughts :good
I nearly cried! Pride never dies!!! I would say the three Mexicans are too lowly ranked. Would love to here your reasons for your placings Sir :thmbsup
Herrera (call me crazy but his resume is great and I think he's an absolute beast head to head) Chandler Castillo Rose Canizales Martinez
Lionel Rose Chucho Castillo Rafael Herrera Orlando Canizales Jeff Chandler Rodolfo Martinez The first 4 are very close.
Well, it was a quickly done list..... I don´t know.....Castillo has great wins, but he was also inconsistent, his losses makes his resume more unimpressive in my view….. Canizales and Chandler are better fighters because they are more skilled (in my opinion) and better “champions”….I´m more impressed with Herrera than Castillo to be honest, Castillo beat a unfocused Olivares I think, the best version of Olivares would beat Castillo….. Resume is not only a matter of better wins but also about consistency…… It´s all close…..but maybe I´m being unfair with Castillo because his losses are pre-prime or past-prime.....
I think Castillo was far more skilled than Chandler. In fact he was one of the most skilled Bantams I've ever seen.
Interesting... I think Chandler was a bit more complete, very good at close distance, with a good left hook to the body, a good fighter at long range with a good jab....aggressively and defensively....
I haven't seen much of Chandler Vic, how do you think he would of went against Pintor? Talking about Castillo and his early losses. I think a lot of it is due to the quality of those unsung Mexican bantams of the day, they were all thrown in with each other and were beating each other. Just shows how good Olivares was on the way up before he started partying. he was in the mix and knocking them all out.
Pintor would be stronger at close.....with that powerful uppercut......wouldn´t be smart for Chandler fight on the inside..... But, I can see JC outboxing Pintor (who was a good boxer as well), because Chandler has the better jab and better footwork, in my opinion... tough fight to call, Al....
I'd say anyone who tries to dispute you is the crazy one. :good Herrera was collectively 3-2 against other fighters on this list, and was 2-0 against a guy who was himself collectively 3-1 against other fighters on that list - oh yeah, and "that guy" also happens to be a consensus top 5 ATG bantam, BTW. The only mark against Herrera was that he never had a consistent or dominant run at the top level, but the same could be said of all the fighters on that list except Canizales and Chandler.
Rafael Herrera Jeff Chandler Chucho Castillo Lionel Rose Orlando Canizales Rodolfo Martinez I would put the great Manuel Ortiz on top of any bantamweight list.
Forgot about this. I'd have it Rose Chucho Herrera Chandler Canizales Martinez All very hard to pick and I could probably do a switcheroo here and there.
