he was offered the fight already BAM he said the offer was so bad Gary Hyde didnt even bother telling him what it was moeny wise
I'll believe it when I hear something more concrete. Who made him the offer? McGuigan? Matchroom? The EBU? The offer was so bad? A free shot at an EBU title he claims he'd win handy enough? Surely you win the belt first then worry about getting the €€€€ later. This whole thing has too many holes in it for my liking. Not enough concrete info by half. It could really do with being cleared up sooner rather than later. If Carlos really is getting a shot at the vacant title they have less than 2 weeks to find a replacement.
Don't want to see Casey v Frampton at this stage to be honest. Casey is on the back of a destruction and needs to get a few rounds under his belt. Kiko dropping out could be a bit of a blessing in disguise. Team Frampton obviously thought it was worth the risk, and I agreed with them, but the fight is a toss up at this stage.
Martirosyan not an option for Frampton http://www.irish-boxing.com/2011/08/martirosyan-wants-to-replace-kiko-but-not-availble-on-sept-10/
Oh agree on Ward, Sweeney is really outperforming himself at the moment, Forde on the other hand could well beat either, remember he has beaten O'Reilly and Christy Ward. BTW who do you think wins Moylette-Hickey?
Now Munroe turned down Frampton fight- poor Carlos, but his time will come http://www.irish-boxing.com/2011/08/munroe-no-go-rendell-turns-down-frampton-fight/
Going up for McCloskey Prescott. Hope Carlos can get an opponent sorted. Where would be a good spot for a motley crew of lads between the ages of 40 and 60 after fights are over? Staying up market at the Travelodge. On another note thanks to Paddy Barnes and all the other Irish boxers including Katie Taylor who were very gracious and stood for pictures with my daughter at Dublin airport on way home from Rome on Saturday.
Casey defo not fighting Frampton, was talking to Gary Hyde a few hours ago and he said it's one they want in the future but not on Sept 10.
It's a wise decision. It's a fight that Carlos can headline in Belfast or Casey in Limerick and sell out the place. Casey needs a tune up fight if he is to have any chance against Frampton.
hmmmm from wayne alexanders fb just been told tyson fury is fighting james toney,if true its an interesting fight!??
Casey: too little to late I Won't fight Frampton http://www.irish-boxing.com/2011/08/casey-will-not-fight-frampton-on-sept-10/ Frampton opponent to be named in 48 hours http://www.irish-boxing.com/2011/08...t-10-bill-–-opponent-to-be-named-in-48-hours/ Hillerby to fight Tolan on sept 17 http://www.irish-boxing.com/2011/08/hillerby-to-finish-perfect-year-with-tolan-win/
Hah, that'd be brilliant. Toney's American fans having to endure what would probably be a career ending defeat at the hands of Tyson Fury I don't have a problem with most fighters, but I do dislike Toney. People call him a throwback, or 'old school', what old school fighter gets caught using steroids on multiple occasions ?.......the man is a cheat, plain and simple. It's one thing getting caught once, and changing your ways, people deserve a 2nd chance, but to be a repeated user you're just a ****. Not a fan of the way he repeatedly talks bull**** about the top fighters in the division, including Wladamir Klitschko, a fighter he turned down $1,000,000 to fight back in 2006. He gets fights (such as the Couture one) using his mouth, deep down he probably knows he's not capable of hanging with the guys he talks **** about. He's now fat, old, and his punch resistance has gone completely. He's just all round shot, and Fury would put quite a beating on him before gaining a mercy stoppage win. The sooner that trash is retired the better, the sport is better off without people like him.
