Meldrick Taylor vs Robin Blake (100-90 Taylor)

Taylor's first step up, and he brought the goods in this fight. After looking poor against Victor Acosta, a tough Southpaw brawler, Taylor new he had to up his game to get by the lanky, awkward, former champ in Robin Blake. Despite Blake holding nearly all the advantages outside of speed, that one factor proved to be the key as Taylor outworked his more experienced opponent and hit him constantly with crisp, hard combinations. I had it a shutout, but you could give a couple of rounds to Blake that were close. The network did an interesting corner-view highlight after the bout to show how Taylor's corner were seeing the fight, and what instructions they gave him and such. A nice feature to give an alternative glimpse of a fight.

Watched John tate vs Mike Weaver

A good entertaining fight. I cant help but feel a bit sorry for tate though, who had dominated almost every round up to the 15th, and had fought one of the best bouts of his career. the fight was fought at a fairly hard pace and John pressed the action in almost every round, connecting with quite a lot of meaty punches. I had tate winning nearly every round until the 12th. However, Weaver to his credit took them all in spite of his low work rate. I think the hard pace showed on John once it got to the championship rounds, as he slowed down a lot and allowed Mike to start landing some big punches. Weaver need a knockout to win at this point. the shift became noticable when Weaver had John hurt and almost knocked down in the 12th with a big left hook. Weaver took round 14 also imo, as he was finding tate with regularity at this point. When the end came it was brutal, one devestating hook which had tate out cold, with less than a minute left in the fight. Some comeback by Weaver.

    I'll watch it tonight :good

Post it here, can't be arsed to look.

But you score this please, and you do love super fly :good Watanabe is arguably the greatest at 115 (I do not agree with that at all!) and this is the unification bout he took rather than face Khaosai (unknown at the time) instead facing title holder and Olympian Payao Poonterat, also of Thailand.
