    Mayweather made Marquez look slow.

Thats incredible. Marquez was only 4lbs heavier on fight night then when he fought Pacquiao.

If Marquez does very well against Pac this November, I'd say it definitely paves a lot of room to legitimize Floyd's win.

That and also, Floyd was coming off a layoff soooo.... not everything was in his favor

All these opinions are subject to change after the next pac fight.

Ah right, I see what you did there. When I pointed out the differences between Mayweather-Marquez and Mayweather-Martinez, you ignored my point and brought up some bull**** about Mayweather-Winky instead. Nice work.

All the physical advantages that Floyd had over JMM, Oscar had over Floyd, yet Floyd went in against the heavier, taller fighter and beat him.

What was the difference for JMM?

Anyone saying that clear advantages in height, reach and fightnight weight don't make a blind bit of difference are deluded to the point of insane, especially in this scenario where Mayweather was fighting at his comfortable, optimum weigh-in weight, while Marquez had tried to put on weight he'd never carried before to the weigh-in and looked like a man bloating himself up to come in 2 divisions above his current.

A meaningless fight by any logical, sensible standards.

De La Hoya was coming off a destructive win over Mayorga. He was world champ.
He wasnt "years past his best". He was at his ideal weight too.

I agree that Floyd beats JMM at any weight. But at his very best, JMM would of been more competitive than their actual fight that took place.

    @ Popkins and Divac

If the 130 pound Floyd fought the 130 pound Marquez, Floyd would have still had the advantages of height, speed and reach....so the only thing you two can harp up on is the weight issues but that again becomes a moot point given that Floyd didn't bully Marquez with size to get the win.

Oscar was the champion fighting at his ideal weight. He was not "fat"!! He had also just destroyed Mayorga.

JMM was at his peak, coming off destructive wins over Casamayor and Diaz, and after the Mayweather fight went back down and dominated lightweight again.

What was the difference? The situations were totally different FFS!

Here are just some of them:

    - Floyd was not being asked to jump 2 divisions, he was being asked to jump 1, and he (smartly) didn't even try to bridge the weight gap and come in close to 154

    - Floyd weighed in 3lbs heavier than he usually did, not over 7lbs heavier than Marquez did

    - Oscar was years and years past his best when Floyd fought him, Floyd was still in his prime when Marquez fought him

    - ODLH had been at 154 for many years, Floyd had been at 147 for many years, these guys were a division apart for a long time. By contrast, Marquez had been at 135 for 2 fights and before that had been at 130. He and Floyd were not close to being in the same weight range, whereas Floyd and Oscar were

    - Oscar had a 1 inch reach advantage over Floyd, which is negligible. Floyd had a 5 inch reach advantage over Marquez, which is not.

    - Floyd had already fought a guy of similar weight and dimensions to Oscar in Carlos Baldomir, he already had experience of fighting someone in that weight range and being the smaller man. Marquez had never fought anyone the same size and weight as Mayweather

    Should I go on? :patsch

floyd did not bully jmm because he simply wanted to. he just couldn't as jmm, even a slower one at that, was still too dangerous for him to finish off.

Yes, because a bloated, sluggish, thick-around-the-waist 142lbs Marquez is the exact same fighter as the 130lbs prime version. :rofl

Umm no...Did you see the fights against Diaz and Casa? Casamayor, well past his best days was giving JMM problems before the stoppage. Diaz, who isnt known for having much power was rocking JMM, before JMM managed to stop him. JMM's peak weights have been at 126lbs and 130lbs...He clearly lost a step at 135lbs...
