Besides, the only one i think will actually come off is burns v Broner....and do you think if Burns sold out the arenas in glasgae he Mr promoter would entertain this fight? Maybe, just maybe he has the faith that Burns can go over there and make a name for himself

Sad position, but if he’d been smarter on what he paid the Olympians… and let’s be honest, his golden boy (DeGale) is likely to be a bust. No fans, hard to like, ugly style, and lost in his first step up.

 

Burns vs Broner is in no way a fight Ricky can't win, in fact he should be a clear favourite even if Broner is at home so i don't see that as Frank cashing in on him.

The other two i'd doubt to happen, especially Cleverly-Hopkins. All he's done by using Hopkins name is build up anticipation and importance to the Bellew fight (not that it was really needed). I can't see why B-Hop would want the winner in any way.

Mitchell-Rios may be seen as hanging Kevin out to dry but I'm sure Mitchell feels he's above domestic level after beating Murray and Frank has already got him a title shot of some sort at home which he squandered so perhaps he is just bowing to Mitchell's demands this time and giving him one last big opportunity.

Either way, I think it would be unlikely if Frank is just making these fights to make a bit of money before leaving boxing

Even though i've put Broner on my Fantasy League team the way people go on about him is ridiculous. Against Ponce De Leon the fans stated to boo as they thought they was watching Strictly Come Dancing as he showed a vast array of fancy footwork but nothing else as the fight wore on.

The Litzau fight both men started sluggish till Litzau stupidly trade back while on the ropes and got stopped. A man with a dodgy biscuit tin.

Burns can beat the lad there's no doubting that. I can half understand when people talk about Barker vs Martinez. Barker faces a real world class fighter. Broner may well be another Devon Alexander. All speed no substance..

 

Your hype over Broner is more laughable than that mate. What did you exactly see in his struggle with Ponce de Leon that made him so unbeatable in your eyes? And Burns stylistically is a lot tougher for Broner than an old Ponce would be imo.

Oh yeah but I'd forgot he KO'd Litzau in the 1st :scaredas::admin. Obviously a superstar in the making if he can do that....

 

I'm not hyping Broner at all. I never said he was unbeatable and I don't think he's that great either. But he's clearly quite a bit better than Ricky Burns IMO.

 

Didnt everyone say Rocky Martinez would KO Ricky early as well? I think Ricky is a tad better then most give him credit for. I've seen nothing of Broner to suggest the guy is unbeatable, and i feel he can be outboxed by Ricky for long stretches of this 1. If it was in the UK i'd have a fair wedge of a Burns UD, but away from home you can never been sure.

Hopkins-Clev wont happen. It makes no sense. Hopkins wouldnt take the pay cut for a Clev fight when there are much bigger fights for him. His name is being thrown around to hype the bellew fight. Expect Clev to say something like 'Calzaghe couldnt knock him out, but i will'. It's all hype.

Rios-Mitchell is also a very strange one. Until i see a concrete contract, I wont believe this will happen. Mitchell has established himself as the best LW in europe, would this really be given up in a suicide mission against a beast in Rios? I doubt it, particularly as Rios is moving up in weight soon. Doesnt make an ounce of sense to me.

Be interesting to see the type of contracts he offers to the olympic boxers from 2012. I reckon its going to be nowhere near as much as the last bunch got. He has too many fighters on his books for the current sky tv dates he gets.

 

From what I've seen of the pair I fancy Broner to beat Burns but its a pick em and I give burns a good chance of winning, he may even be the favourite.

His three defences to date have been against poor opponents so a step back up would show us whether he is at world level or not. He did beat Martinez who was considered no1 at the weight but on good win isn't enough to convince me he is a top level performer. This fight will show us exactly what he's about.

As for Broner, he could very well turn out to be a Devon Alexander type but on the other hand he is young and still learning, he may get better with every fight and be a star of the future. That's why I like this fight as it ask's question's about both lad's.

He signed cheques that he couldn't cash, or even try to cash because of what was written in them!

Usually his deals contain a back to back losses clause, where he can release the fighter. Can see a fair few of these being triggered shortly.

Hopefully they should be on the same as everybody else. The sense of entitlement and constantly talking about how rich they are only makes people want them to get KTFO anyway.
