Jeez, for the last 100 years, nearly all the big fights have been in the USA.

Its not some weird conspiracy. Maybe being allwoed to fight in literally his home town was a bit unfair, but then again he won all his fights easily. There were no questionable decisions.

Unless a guy gets robbed on the scorecards, whats the big deal about fighting anywhere??
Ward hasnt robbed anyone on the scorecards.

this was supposed to be a tournament though, a fair tourny between 6 good fighters, surely it should have been 1 home, 1 away, 1 home, 1 away...then the final in vegas (unfair on froch but still fairer than what its been), why did ward get a free pass but not froch?

It was supposed to be 1 home, 1 away, 1 neutral. Ward fought Kessler at home, then Taylor pulled out. So, Green agreed to have it in Oakland again. Bika was an entirely separate fight. He got a pass because they didn't want to just insert another replacement in the tournament. He beat Bika anyway, so he would have gotten the points regardless.

None of Froch's opponents pulled out and were replaced when he fought them. Ward had two of his three pull out. Showtime really did the best the could. (don't even say they could have brought Bute. Bute was on HBO for most of the tournament.) So, Froch isn't the one that "didn't get a pass." Green, if anyone, is the only one that should have gotten a pass. Instead he fought Glen Johnson and lost. None of Froch's opponents were replacements until the semi-finals. They weren't going to just give anyone a pass into the semi-finals.

The semi-finals and finals, as they've said many times before, were all supposed to be in America. Ward fought Abraham in the semi-finals away from his home town. In fact, it seemed to me that more of the fans were supporting Abraham. Froch fought Johnson in the USA, no big deal. He signed the contract. It's not Ward's fault Froch is British and Ward is American.

Did Froch have a tougher path? Yes. Did Ward work hard to get to this point as well? Yes. Froch and Ward were even odds when the tournament started. Nobody was holding Ward's hand through this tournament.

it does not matter how it turned out, it was fair at the begining.

What grates is Ward getting a pass in his third fight and also that the whole home/away thing was not fully agreed at the start.

If a Portuguese would walk 3000 miles north east he would still be in the european part of russia so whats your point ?
Fact is Atlantic City is still the US same culture, same language, same government, same TV channels.

It doesn't matter if the TV station is from the US or not fact is Ward had all fights in his homeland.
It's right that the finale is in the USA but Ward has never left the USA in the whole tournament thats nearly cheating in my opinion

If u think a fight in New Jersey is a 'home' fight for Ward, then u are way off base. You do realize how far Oakland is from New Jersey, don't u?

Oakland and Atlantic City have nothing in common except being within the same country. They are not alike, but yes they do have some similarities. It's a moot point, because the finals (and semis I believe) are REQUIRED to take place in the US. This was agreed upon before the tournament even started.

these kind of comments are laughable. Do you follow this sport? You really think these quality matchups would have happened in this short period of time without the tournament setup? Get real.

if it was such an issue for Froch, Kessler, etc....why sign the ****ing contract in the first place? If there were concerns about the locations of Ward's fights, that should have been negotiated upfront. But the fact is, Ward was not viewed as a threat in this tourney. But now that he came of age, everyone starts prepping excuses.
