What's staggering is that you would watch that fight and genuinely believe that 2 pounds on the scale would have made any difference, that's what's staggering.

I agree he's more gifted. But that is irrelevant. In the fight they had in reality, the weight issue made it a non-event. A fight between them in their 130 primes would still have been won by Mayweather, but would obviously have been a more competitive fight, that's only logical.

There's just so much wrong with this point that I can't even be bothered listing them. So much. :-(

the least floyd could have done is honor the catchweight.

I thought we were dealing with reality here? The reality is that PBF beat JMM from pillar to post, and it literally wasn't even close.

It literally was a worthless win as well, because of the circumstances in reality.

I agree he should have, and I'm not defending that at all, unprofessional and bush league. That being said if had made the weight the outcome is no different. He's just that much better than JMM, who I respect and am a fan of.

You're entitled, but your absolutely wrong, the 2lbs had a possible 5% impact on the outcome of the fight...did you watch it?

Floyd is also most gifted than Castillo and by most accounts he lost that.

Your point of view is utterly nonsensical. Ludicrous, in fact. As I already stated, there are many reasons for this. One of which is the very obvious fact that you don't even know anything about the circumstances of the fight you are passing judgement on, as Floyd weighed in 4lbs heavier than Marquez, not 2lbs. Marquez weighed in at 142 on the scales, Mayweather came in 2lbs over the catchweight at 146lbs. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. When I have more time tomorrow, I'll come back to this thread and list the various other reasons why your point of view on this issue is absurd. :good

good point. imo, weight played a significant factor. floyd had physical advantages and stylewise defeats jmm but it would have been a much more competitive fight had they been in the same weight class.

I beg to differ sir; The discussion is about weight not speed. Its being said that because Money was heavier, he had an unfair advantage and thats the reason he won. I totally disagree because he never used weight in that fight as a tool. That was pure and simple a boxing match and he outboxed and out classed JMM. Had both fighters been at the same weight and in prime shape, the results would have been the same because like I said, Moneys style allowed him the pleasure of schooling JMMs ass.:bbb:bbb:bbb

This thread is continuing, yet none of these points are being adequately addressed:

Whether Mayweather would beat Marquez at 130lbs is not the issue, the issue is that in reality the fight they did have with each other was invalidated by the weight and size issue being skewed radically in favour of Mayweather. It wasn't a fair fight, end of story.

No matter which weight they fought, bad style matchup for Marquez. Counter puncher vs Versatile Counter Puncher.

the thread is about rating floyd's win at welterweight over marquez and not about who wins in a p4p fight, at 130 or 135. you cannot possibly rate floyd's win over marquez at a supposed to be catchweight fight of 144 much higher because in your opinion, he would beat him at 130 or in any other weight. if that's the case, then let us rate floyd more and count a cotto, a margarito and a pacquiao fantasy win since in most people's opinion, he would beat them too.
