I don't think Hopkins is as smart as people make him out to be. He does the same thing in every fight as evidenced by his two losses to Jermain Taylor; he knew that what he did the first time around might not be enough but couldn't do anything else the second time around.

Ali and Floyd have adapted to different situations which is why i have to rate their IQ on a different level to that of Bernards

 yeah that would be a hell of a fighter...makes me think of Ricardo Lopez, boy in his prime, dude has serious power, defence, moved superb and had condition for 15 rounds. dude had no weaknesses.

no, he does not always do the same.

he fights from distance and picks you apart, like vs tito.

or presses the action and takes you out of your game plan like vs winky or pavlik, tarver.

Good poll, and really tough choices.

I have to go with SRR since Ali wasn't as technically adherent, but rather athletically gifted.

I agree that BHOP should have been in the poll, but I would have still rated SRR higher.
Glad to see neither Klitscho was there stinking up the poll.

Naw, the only real mistake would have been had you listed the Klits or Bute. Then no one would ever take you serious.

Ray Leonard was extremely smart and versatile, but I go with Pernell from the choices given. He was just a genius in pretty much every way. I can imagine him mixing it up during a fight in such a fashion as to take his opponent's soul away from him.

He's the master. Every step, every shoulder movement, every feint, etc has a purpose to either getting in position to throw a punch or to defend. He can make guys miss just based on his slickness alone. Not based on reflexes (Floyd) but pure skill. Just watch the guy next time. He's always worried about the distance. He knows that a fighter cannot land a punch from a certain distance. So he's always either way in or way out.

Yeah, his two losses to Taylor is one of the biggest mysteries of mankind. I think he lost for a few reasons. 1) he was weak at 160. Even though he could make the weight that was not his ideal weight. We saw his body at 175. His body needed the extra fluid/muscle, 2) he showed Taylor too much respect. Taylor's unpredictable bursts of explosive combinations made Hopkins weary. He should've made it more of an in-fight.
