He has to win this Tournament. If he wants to be a true superstar.

The kiddy gloves are off now.

Lets see what he can really do.

That's pretty much what it boils down to. He wins, he's got himself an elite accomplishment at the world level professionally and a P4P ranking to go along with his gold medal. Even if that doesn't make him into a superstar, it gives him superstar level accomplishments with plenty of time to add to them.

i agree, he has it all but has yet to perfect any of it....but that comes with experience, i doubt Ward will win this tournament, but in years to come when he peaks as a fighter he will be a P4P level guy

so yeah i think he is a future superstar

Ofcourse he have a chance to become a big name! superstar.. is maybe a bit to soon to say, but if he beats Kessler he can certainly make it all the way and win the tournament, and that would definately be a huge step to become a star! Even though he dont win he can still become big.. no doubt about that!

He`s a really good fighter and seems like a good kid, so i hope his suporters stays with him even if he should lose the first fight! Kessler certainly by no mean an easy fight.. and no shame to lose his zero against him!

Never say never. So far he's doing everything right EXCEPT have a fan friendly style. As long as he keeps on winning and displays a high level of skill, it's possible. If he beats a legend like Hopkins for example, you never know.

yeah in boxing circles, he will never be a superstar, he lacks the style. He is pretty charasmatic and a nice guy but with the wrong style.

and it took him a very long time to get paid, tito and oscar fight helped him a lot and he is paid well nowadays but during his middleweight reign I dont think he made huge money.

I don't know if that's absolutely true. Ward is probably the most diverse talent in boxing today. Against Kessler and Green, he dominated the inside game. And many thought he would be just a boring, in-fighter his whole career. Then against Bika, he fights a grueling fight but distances himself a bit from rounds 9-12 by boxing from the outside. And against Abraham, most people thought he would just dominate Abraham on the inside where Abraham has no inside game but it was the opposite. He used his jab and boxed.

He is still improving and can pretty much fight any style. His high level of skill might get to a level like that of Floyd, where it's so good that people watch just in appreciation. As long as he keeps winning and displaying a high level of skill, you never know.

thats true, but lets not forget that floyd had to be a huge ******* so that people wanted to see him lose and a lot of marketing to turn him into the superstar he is now.

He's got ability, but he's not got the style to be a superstar in my opinion. Floyd is a superstar because the guy was very talented, but he also got people talking because of his big mouth. It took him many years aswell to reach that stardom level.
