Whatever you say about his boxing, this guy is a true inspiration and his story is a testament to overcoming obstacles

Frankly I'm sick of hearing about this, true It's a sad situation to endure but he isn't the only person in life who was abandoned by their parents and won't be the last, he overcame now he is a boxer and my only interest of him is boxing related, when he's outside the ring in his personal life I don't care whats going on with Victor Ortiz or any other fighter...

This is boxing not one of those bull**** reality shows...

Hmmmmmm, he's doing a promotional tour for a huge PPV fight and is being asked about the incident over and over by a variety of different journalists.

 Hold on one second. Didn't Ortiz, on 24-7, say he came home from school to find his mum gone? But here, he's saying he was rolling up his hands watching Power Rangers waiting for his mum to take him to the gym when he realized she was gone. :huh

I like Ortiz, but it's clear that this story of his parents leaving him, doesn't entirely reflect the truth.

And that has exactly what to do with me being tired of hearing about it, I come from a childhood where poverty and struggle was the norm, his sad story may win the hearts of sensitive casual fans but that won't help him in that ring when he's getting his ass whooped...

Erm, it has everything to do with you saying you're bored of hearing about it.

He's going to be doing a whole load of interviews for this fight, and most are going to involve him being asked about this incident. If you're fed up with hearing about it don't watch or read any interviews with him!

Unless you're saying you just hear Ortiz talk about this story over and over and there's nothing you can do to stop it? In which case you may be suffering from a mental illness

Didn't watch the clip, just responded to the post in hopes of discouraging anyone else of making a thread on it, we already know his struggle and exploiting this angle of his life shouldn't be brought up and played out eveytime someone interviews him, I'm starting to think its exaggerated a tad any how...

He has a great story but isnt it very common. Like an old song done by a new artist. Edison miranda, kasim ouma can all relate. Pacquiao didnt have his family leave but he left on his own so he wouldnt be a burden on his family. Boxers most of the time have come from tough environments. Fernando vargas, hopkins, jermaine taylor, mike tyson. This thread would be @ 1000 if we talked about boxers from humble beginings.

No doubt it's exaggerated - there's marketing people paid small fortunes to find an angle to sell this fight. They've chosen to focus in his childhood and the adversity he came through, which explains why it's asked about in nearly every interview he does. Thing is, Victor aint no actor, movie star or politician who is used to this attention, hence the inconsistencies in the story from one interview to the next.

If you're referring to the word 'sob', I meant the word sob and not the acronym SOB(Son of *****).

Good pick up on your part, I didn't even notice it while typing it.

Nah, I was talking about the fact that you said the story is bothering you so you didn't watch the interview. Standard procedure around here seems to be that you ***** about how much something or someone annoys you, yet watch every single bit of footage on the internet
