furys father john has defo claimed he is frpm galway and moved to manchester as a baby ...his birth records were supposedly burnt in a church fire hence he couldnt claim his irishness untill his mothers side came out ...this is why he couldnt fight for ireland in the olympics

Willie is no example to kids in Limerick,he done very well in boxing and was good for Limerick, but believe me Willie is no angel, dont take my word for it,ask anyone in Limerick that knows,i dont tarnish him by assosiation but by his actions.
The caseys are everything that is bad in Limerick and willie is up there with the best/worst of them.

Much of a sameness to me if they are travellers or not BUT iv been at all the shows in Limerick and there is a huge diffrnce between the crowd at a Andy Lee night and Willie Casey night, there was a cross over one night when willie fought on Andys undercard but i have never felt intimidated or uneasy at an Andy Lee fight,

I hate to say this but the recent topic in discussion is a very sensitive one in Irish society and somewhat of an Elephant in the room. That said -there is only minor relevance to Irish boxing as a whole. Perhaps it bleongs in a different thread or the use of pm's could come in here. Ardy you set the tone for the thread in your first post which is why I mention this.

I'm from Limerick, and anyone I've talked to that have ever encountered him or know him personally had nothing but good things to say about him. I think you're talking through your hole. Some of his family, however, is another matter.

I agree Paddy, there's a lot of nasty comments being made here and whether warranted or unwarranted this is not the place for it.

Granted the Casey clan do have a bad reputation in Limerick. I'm not saying I know Willie personally or anything, but I've met him on two occasions. Had a small chat on both occasions, got the photo taken and got my Limerick jersey autographed. He was a gentleman.

I was at a Dolphil bill (Fitzer/Hammond one). Willie had the flu so didn't fight. He spent the whole night signing autographs, posing for photos etc. He had time for everyone. He always comes across well in interviews and always shows respect to who ever he's fighting.
