He needs a fight with pov imo. The only way he's gonna keep his legacy building is against top 5 opposition.

 

Based on wins, Helenius is not far off Povetkin IMO. Helenius seems capable of pulling big shots out hit arse, stopping Peter, Sergei and Brewster. Povetkin has been too stop and start, and didn't exactly set the World alight against an admittedly solid and fairly skilled Chagaev (I've only watched a few rounds so shoudn't really comment) whilst Helenius has got a bit of momentum going, and size, which will make a fight with Wlad a bigger attraction as well.

I hate Helnius' all Adidas look though :-( The most basic of European boxing fashion.

He didn't look great against Chambers IMO. After a good start, Chambers got timid (tired due to being a blob) and then Povetkin looked decent, but ****ed off, having that odd 'exhibition' with ****ing Seldon Chambers took the initiative, and IMO looked the better of the two in subsequent performances. Let's not forget, Byrd and Chambers were nearly five ****ing years ago. He's done close to **** all since. Povetkin just doesn't look too motivated for my liking, with his credentials he should be right up there already, and have the nuance and ability to give either Klitschko a stern test.

yeah the chambers fight was there for eddie to lose and he did. whether it was him taking the eye off the ball, or pov's relentless nature frustrating him is hard to say.

either way, these top contenders need to be facing wlad. it's no good for people to say "wlad beats them anyways" as history shows that excuse doesn't wash.

pove has been top 5 now for over 3 years and only has 3 marquee names on his resume. it's getting beyond a joke.

 

So Povetkin could easily do this -

In fact Povetkin could easily retire after that he would be 32/33 with 4 defences of a world title and finish 26-0.

atsch Calzaghe fought the best at 168 (took him long enough to step up but when he did he cleared out the division) and then he went up to 175 and took on the best fighter there. Ottke might have been a **** champion but he did unify, and I'm fairly confident in saying he had a better career than Povetkin will.

 

Only gonna' get worse, Basketball and American Football have a muh better chance of securing the top best athletes nowadays, and those that do change over will likely go to MMA rather than boxing.

In terms of grass roots production, MMA is gonna' get peeps interested from now on.

 

He did not cleaned out the super-middle weight division...won by one round on my scorecards versus Hopkins (why not rematch him?)

I was there watching i hate the revising of history. He hid in a division full of crap for years and years and years.

He was good fighter much like Povetkin...who was good enough to hang with the best....Calzaghe a great fighter? Meh...the variety of opponents is meh.


He held the least prestigious of the belts, and hid in a division made up in 1988 if boxing had balls......they would have division every 15 pounds not 2 pounds...then you would not have so many champions.

In fact judging by the ranking Povetkin could well go on and fight Ortiz, Chagaev again, Ruiz if he fancies...he could well rack up the wins here.
