Im not saying he is not good, he is impressive, I'm just saying I consider him more of a good american boxer since there is where he learned his craft since he didn't have any amateur experience.

Hairón " El Majá " Socarrás came to this Country at the age of 12. He never fought in Cuba and started his boxing career in Florida. He was a great amateur as he was Florida's Golden Gloves Champion and experts say that he won most of his bouts via KO/TKO. This Cubanito really has " dynamite " in his hands, plus great speed, timing and defense.

I am very impressed with Socarrás, at just 4-0 he fights like a more experienced pro boxer. And yes, he is Cuban and yes he learned how to box here but is also gaining valuable skills, tips and experience from the other top Cuban defectors like Salinas. He went toe to toe with Salinas ( who has 300+ amateur bouts in Cuba ) and Socarrás was giving Salinas all he could handle. Yes, Salinas was closely out pointing him ( cause of his huge amateur experience ), but their sparring was very close.

I really like this kid, an article says that he comes from a decent and humble family and that El Majá is very humble himself. Another very good thing he has is that he speaks English and could be marketed easily for all Markets, something that all Cuban defectors have failed to do cause of the language barrier.

I believe that Socarrás is going to be a great one indeed. :good

Once again, did you check his trainer? Because I was an Engineer back in Cuba, still I'm, you can bring the school to any place in the world, just ask Cuellar and the other Cuban trainers that are doing good in foreing soil.

There are several things to like about Socarras.

He wanted to turn pro as early and possible and already has some following so that probably motivates him to keep up the hard work which really is the main struggle for most Cubans leaving the island as established amateurs.

He also has excellent speed and two handed power with an aggressive style (one of his idols is Gamboa), but I'm sure he understands that it's necessary to put skills behind the fists (as he's a fan of Floyd).

He also speaks English which is a big advantage to get a larger fanbase and if he keeps his shape and fights regularly I'm sure the attention will come although it's just the start of a long road.

Anyways, wish him the best and never to lose focus. As far as predicting his future, let's just see how he develops.

He's had a lot of Amateur Fights over here stateside. Pretty much right when he got over here he was at Jorge Rubio's gym. Rubio has always had a hell of a stable, Maja grew up training with Gil Reyes, Juan Arroyo, Antwone Smith, Angelo Santana, Azea Augustama, Ed Paredes, Ricardo Hernandez, Orlando Gonzalez. Everyday he was with these guys they're all Professional he was 12-18 Years old just a kid yet training as hard as them.

According to Oner, Gamboa plans to fight his way through the divisions in order to get bigger fights.

“Right now there’s nothing left to prove for Gamboa at 126. That’s why we are planning to move up in weight. It seems to be the next natural step for a naturally gifted fighter like Gamboa. He wants the big fights and the big names, he wants to get to the point where Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather jr. are at the moment. To do so he needs to get – and of course win – the big fights. I can imagine him fighting up to 140 easily

i smell a megafight against khan for what Oner says,i dont know, gamboa will be too small at 140.By then khan will be a full welter.
gamboa vs katsidis at 135 will be a good test, nothing at 130.

Would like to see Gamboa-Caballero could be interesting .My guess is that a Gamboa-Juanma would be at 130 not 126.
