it wasnt a hennessy sports press release- so doubt it... could he be added to the McCloskey bill or just announcing his next fight?

You're actually wrong there, Hyland was mandatory and although I can't remember what Casey was (you'd probably find out searching back through this thread), he certainly wasn't as far down as 9th or 10th.

Fairly sure Willie was 11 there was abit of confusion cause when it was first talked about he wasnt in the top 15 but after his fight in city west last november he was moved up a few places to make him eligible.
Anyone remeber that lad tough Italian who had his bird with him most of the hall spent their time looking at her anytime she moved.

I think before Casey had fought Salvini the 10 fight rule was still in place (where fighters would not enter the EBU rankings until they had fought 10 fights). Casey was in the EU rankings before that fight but not the EBU for presumely that reason. Salvini was ranked 9th when Casey beat him in August 2010. Maybe he did only rise to 11th after that victory, but whatever the case the scenario isn't the same as Paulie Hyland was named mandatory challenger for the belt.

I agree it was Paulies ranking that got the fight on after Kiko pulled out.
I do wonder though if given an equal set of training time would the outcome be diffrent in the future.
Paul is a much better fighter than we saw that night and thats not meant to take anything away from Willie just a question.

I don't think we would have saw a different winner or method of victory anyway. Maybe Paulie would of lasted longer and maybe he would of took some rounds along the way, but I don't think he'd have lasted the 12.

He looked reasonably sharp in that fight to be fair and although he mightn't of been in as good condition as he could be he certainly wasn't in bad shape. His main flaw in the fight was the tactics he decided/was forced to employ which was to stand and trade with Casey. He simply fought the wrong fight and I don't think extra training time would of caused him to fight the right one. Even if he was physically at his best, he would never win a war against Casey.

I'll go for Hickey to win 15-13. Bit of an outrageous guess as we don't know what tactics both fighters will use, but shur we'll give it a lash anyway :good

Moylette seems the man for a big occasion, well done to him and I'm glad this whole thing was sorted in a proper manner.
