you should just watch films on youtube of those guys... to get a better perspective then to just go by what "you were taught"... judge for youself....you're missin' out on not seeing some great fighters.... personally, I can't make my list of 20 greatest fighters because i still need to see more of the old school fighters... but i CAN do a 20 fav fighters.. that one is easy... :yep :good
Good job! But my thing is, and I have said it before, I don't buy the "you were taught that these were the guys" argument. Analysts and sometiems historians have a strong bias for whatever reason! For example, if you listen to some of the boxing historians, they would list Tyson at the bottom of the top ten- somewhere between 7 and 10- just because of his out of the ring shennanigans, or because they are promoters and writers for Holyfield or Lewis, who can both still cash in on their name and fame. We need to be fair and honest with ourselves to see who's the best! Tis all! :good
21. Ray Leonard 22. Pernell Whitaker 23. Carlos Monzon 24. Joe Louis No problem with anyone rating him higher, although I can't see much of an argument for top 10, personally.
I feel you.. some people I just forget about.. Like Whitaker.. I actually would have put him in had I remembered because lately I felt he didn't get the appreciation his talent warranted...
I think the General Forum (or at least people in the know about him) appreciate Whitaker more than enough. Tends to top a lot of best fighters of the last 20 years lists.
