Frank Hopkins (Jeffries' cutman) says it is very bad and will require 4-5 stitches at this point.

 

Yep, British Sky commentators had the same info.

Jeffries is still only getting through with his left jab pressing right in. Morby is ducking on the outside but getting a bit samey in his defensive maneuvers; Jeffries beans him across the top of the head with a batch of curlers as he's squatted out in front of him. Clinch. Jeffries throws up a short right hand across the side of the head. Morby is twisting and rolling around against the ropes, making Jeffries miss and look bad but not getting any counters in.

Jeffries opens with a high hook, just skimping across the top of the diving Morby's head. Jeffries now chases with his jab, missing as Morby does a scatter-shot dance on the outside. Morby ducks a 1-2 and holds Jeffries low. Morby continues to duck and swerve on fast feet and an elastic waist. They clinch one final time and trade weak taps to the body.

I don't know if Tony landed once there. Morby didn't throw anything, though.

The referee and ultimate scoring authority (per British boxing tradition in non-championship engagements) is Howard Foster. He has it 80-72 for Jeffries.

Jeffries is eager to get back in the gym with Brooks and work on some things and learn new ones. He admits to having been very distressed to suffer the first cut of his career.

Brooks grades him a D! He says that Jeffries had problems listening throughout the night and kept abandoning the jab.

Frank Maloney is also disappointed and urges Jeffries to listen to Brooks and have more zest when in with someone of Morby's class and not have the same urgency in round 8 as in round 1. Jeffries (who took Brooks' criticism without making a peep) stands up to Maloney with an indignant tone.

Brooks is asked if he still thinks Jeffries can be world class, and says he wouldn't be here if he didn't.

 

It was bad. Hopkins did a hell of a job (cosmetically, at least).
