    Zaveck / Berto

I thought at the end of the fight that Zaveck was ahead. Berto was throwing very fast punches but Zaveck was landing cleaner to me.
Bertos speed was impressive, he looked strangely thicker set and faster than previously to me. His speed was excellent, yet Zaveck was the fighter who seemed to land cleaner.

Now this is the where this thread turns.

I felt Berto was allowed to excessively hold and lean on Zaveck with little warning and at the end when watching in slow motion, It looked like Zaveck was butted in both of his eyes. Berto was throwing shots and leaning in with the head, on slow mo I couldnt see punches landing, just headbutts, which as soon as they landed damaged Zavecks eyes.
It seemed that nobody wanted to mention this (or Bertos holding and leaning) and Zaveck showed what a great sportsman he is. All I heard the commentary say was something like heads there also and uppercuts from Zaveck going in.

I think Zaveck was butted unintentionally and robbed of his title. The fight should of at least gone to scorecards if it wasnt a punch that caused the damage, and as said I dont think it was.

We dont know how the fight would have gone and as we know, fights can change from one round to the next, but I think Zaveck was ahead and was robbed of his title by headbutts.

    What do you think?

Lets all here how I am bias .

 Lets not talk about that victim, who was bust up and beaten at home by a bloated fighter coming up in weight.

Stay on the subject of Zaveck/Berto

I think it was punches that caused the cuts, but he was slightly ahead on the cards (3/2) and Berto seemed to be fading.

    Rematch is in order here.

C'mon, did you see the cuts? Very similar to Kessler against Ward.

    Headbutt :deal

Do you have a copy of the fight? If so, watch the replay.
It looks as if Bertos head goes in first on one eye than to the other. I dont think it was intentional, but Berto had a thing about holding alot and seemed to want to hold after coming in. After what im sure was the head, Zaveck winced and then there was damage. I couldnt see a punch landed to that area

    Good find :good
It wasnt the angle that I had seen on the live reply which looked clearer to me than this, but this does show the head going in and no punches landing in that area

I probably have to watch the replays then, the gif looks convincing :think
If so, then Zaveck is indeed robbed of his title.

I havent seen any official scorecards or heard what the scores were.
I personally thought Zaveck was ahead in a close fight, but as said we know that fights can turn by the round. Think Chavez/Taylor for example

Probably not on the official scorecards (3 US judges, 2x Mississippi), but he was on mine (48-47).

No noticable contact? He clearly cuts his eye there with his head and then Jan winces. The 2 GIFs are the same deal but different angles. Nice finds. Clearly butts. Not exactly what I saw on HBO though.
