Nobody would be talking about Povetkin, if he fought Wlad a couple of years ago. Atlas was right by keeping him away from Klitschko, they'll milk his WBA title as long as they can.....

Ibragimov (spelling?) beat a less ancient version of Holyfield very easily.
I think Povetkin is about on that same level as Iggy so i really do not see Holyfield have any chance.

Maybe im evil but sometimes i think Holyfield just needs a fight with Wlad or Vitali to finally retire for good, i get the impression he wont stop unless he gets KOd.

I think Holyfield will look extremely slow and outmatched by a 15 year younger Povetkin. This will be like shooting fish in a barrel. Povetkin won't knock Holyfield out but easily outpoint him for an uneventful UD 12.

I think he stops him on pure domination.

The guys still believing in Holy for actually edging Valuev (although he didn't get the nod) should concider how much 3 years is when you're clearly on the slide... And Holy has been on the slide for a while now.
As an example. Ali beat monsterpuncher Shavers back in '77... Almost exactly 3 years later he acted as a punchbag for Holmes, and only managed to stay upright because of his incredible chin.
Years count in boxing, certainly after 40.

The boxers of the 70s didn't have access to the drugs some of today's boxers have access to.

Holyfield has a biological age is that probably closer to 37/38 than his actual age of 48 thanks to his year long abuse of HGH. Just look at his bodyfat levels and his ability to retain muscle mass long after his biological testosterone levels have been deteriorating.

Look at Briggs, another HGH freak. It appears his chin and ability to absorb punishment got better rather than worse the older he got.

Povetkin's last big stoppage win is TKOing an old Byrd in 2007 who came off taking a terrible beating from Wlad. Arguably Povetkin's stand-out performance. That was four years ago.

Holyfield is not known to cut easily -- Povetkin'd have to knock him down numerous times or at least inflict a major injury on him. Hard to imagine. I really don't see a light punching, self-doubting Povetkin being in a great position to stop even a near 50 year old Holyfield. Not because Holyfield is so good, but simply because Povetkin is so terrible.

What is time going to do for Povetkin?

1: He will just get slower.

2: Who exactly is out there for him to fight, that would teach him new skills needed to beat a Klitscko?

He's already one of the top 2-3 contenders. All they're doing is stalling.

Teddy Atlas translation...blah blah blah we are waiting until either Klitschko looks old and vulnerable or retires.

    This. :deal

Povetkin will never be good enough to be competitive against a Klit bro, but he should at least be fighting tall superheavy boxer types for experience... such experience could allow him to maybe win a single round or two from a K bro.

No fighter with 20 fights can compete Atlas is exactly right

Alex is kinda old but HWs age better and he has no wear and tear

where was Wlad with that amount of fights nowhere near a title thats where

Its a good plan getting the opponents with little experience but teddys too crafty for that
