Definitely one of the fastest in the world but I wouldn't say he's that much faster than Gamboa or khan. If at all.....the kid has incredible talent and look forward to watching his career. I think he needs to improve on a few things defensively but he's more sound than Gamboa.

I'm not sure why people are obsessed with power behind his handspeed (Did RJJ spoil people?) Joe Calzaghe had fast hands but he wasn't Mike Tyson in the power department now was he? and He did real well for himself 46-0 well. The thing with having fast hands is you can win alot of fights by TKO because your hands is so fast the other opponent has no answer and if he does not throw the ref could stop it I think he will be fine with the right seasoning and management I think he should try his luck at 10 rounders next.

Yes. Russell is at the top in that department.

Blinding speed, yes. His triple jab is a blur - and his single jab is almost as if he never removed his gun from the holster.

Calzaghe is the exception, not the norm. I noticed that Russell prefers to trade with his opponents rather than box them, so how will that turn out for him when he's in against someone like Gamboa? Gamboa's hands are just slightly slower than Russell's, but Russell won't have anything in his arsenal to deter Gamboa from running through him.

I think the kid has excellent offense and i really like the way he mixes in body shots in his combos. His defense while not horrible, it needs to be worked on. He doesn't bend at the waist at all ( too straight up IMHO ) and I wouldn't mind seeing more feints as he works his way in. If he continues to improve I would like to see him against Mikey Garcia someday.

His power is really unimpressive which is disappointing because he has almost everything else in his arsenal.

The handspeed going on with Russell-Gamboa would be mind blowing. Compubox shouldn't even bother with that one.

Agreed. This was my assessment before the fight and it still remains.

That would be one helluva fight, I'd favor Gamboa as it stands today, but not by much.
