They do that very selectively. It is a good word for you to learn. Just as those with a functioning brain have added an s to the charade every 4 years in the USA. Election>>>>Selection. Likewise with refs and boxing--all too often now. Refs are very selective. Are you blind all the time? Did you see Mares Agbeko fight. Ref was selective. But an infraction doesn't have to be 25 times. In this fight it only takes one non-call to make a fighter lose when there should have been a DQ or no-contest. ANd those of us with eyes wide open will speak on it despite what those with eyes wide shut will say.
:hey uh yes? http://www.abcboxing.com/documents/abcboxing_referee_rules_and_guidelines.htm From the site 1. Unsportsmanlike conduct to include the three key fouls: Ø Head butting Ø Low Blow and Ø Holding Establish Control. Briefly go over fouls in general, but explicitly discuss the three most common fouls and harmful fouls. Instill in the boxers a sense of respect for the event and that you demand that they follow the rules and your commands without exception.
I can't believe how many of you guys don't know that clinching/holding is illegal in boxing. Its boxing. Not greco roman wrestling.
I don't get what you're saying. A foul is a foul. Its still against the rules even if the ref doesn't call it. Punching a guys balls doesn;t suddenly become OK because the ref missed it. Clinching/holding- the ref breaks up that **** because its illegal. The ref will let it go if you follow his instructions and generally warnings will be given but theres a reason warnings are given. Because its illegal.
Clinching isn't illegal in boxing. Excessive clinching is. If clinching was illegal in boxing 100% of boxers would have to be banned. Actually the sport is so f'd up and corrupt that it is very hard to find any written rules for it. They just kind of make them up as they go along to suit the time and place and who the local gangsters want to win. But clinching is used almost universally by boxers when on the inside, and sometimes it is just a matter of getting tangled up on teh inside, and boxers are warned only when it is excessive. Charging in with your head lowered like a ****ing goat, like Berto, is always illegal in boxing. Does anybody know where to find written rules for this alleged sport?
http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/366079/Marquess-of-Queensberry-rules This is from encyclopedia britanica, MArquess of Quuesbury rules. This is the the Association of Boxing committees referee guidelines. http://www.abcboxing.com/documents/abcboxing_referee_rules_and_guidelines.htm Holding/clinching is illegal. If it wasn't the ref would never yell "Break!" and stop the action.
Of course it makes sense. I doubt if there's single boxer that doesn't clinch at least sometimes, plus arms get tangled up on the inside accidentally. Who ever heard of a referee deducting a point or giving a warning for a normal clinch? That's like the main thing refs do (aside from collecting money under the table from the mob guys), break up clinches and see to it that fighters don't punch on the break.
You know what happens, what i just said. Seriously though I've asked this before but nobody knows where the official rules of boxing are or if they even exist. Yeah, you can find this and that, bits and pieces, online, often contradictory, but you'd think that somewhere there would exist Official Rules.
