Thought i'd make a thread about some of the most underrated euro fighters out there, so if you can think of a few please feel free to add Andre Kotelnik-wins a silver medal in the Olympics, gives witter all he can handle (would have gotten a draw anywhere else), gets robbed by mbaye twice, beats maidana,then in his fight against alexander has an english speaking trainer during the fight and despite this still manages to inflict alexanders first loss, his career was laid to rest after that fight courtesy of don king Yuri Romanov-comes to england beats almost every top english lightweight during the time bar Graham earl(who ends up taking a massive beating in the process and wins narrowly) fights thaxton in 2008 and has never been heard of since.
Kotelnik is definatley the one I think of most. I remember trying to tell stupid yanks that he would be trouble for Alexander while they were all saying alexander would KO him. Good fighter Kotelnik, it's a shame his career went down the pan because he is a clear top 5 140lb'r
that wee fella that came from Belgium i think and took Foster Jr apart was unexpectedly good also Romanov, I remember watching the Thaxton fight at the time and being very impressed
Honestly don't think Fegatilli is all that good, don't get me wrong he's decent, but Steve Foster was drained and ill. Tyson Fury is either underrated or vastly overrated, so I think he deserves a mention. Also Rafael Jaciewicz?? Is underrated
Ukranian, surprisingly. He's definitely talented. He just needs the fights to take him up a few levels. His last opponent was a bit of a joke, although his next looks better. He's basically spent over a year stagnating after the Judah fight. :deal Sykes or Buckland would have no problems with him IMO. I can't believe Hatton didn't bring him back.
Wladimir Sidorenko- Underrated in the sense that he is in the most competitive division at the moment and being destroyed by Donaire gives the impression that he's not in the others' class. In truth though, that was a stylistic nightmare for Sidorenko and I always fancied him to get stopped. But he's also pushed Moreno pretty close on 2 occasions and has a W over Agbeko (I scored it a draw) so his pedigree shouldn't really be questioned imo. Robert Stieglitz- I think he is a solid world class fighter. Like Sidorenko he's in a very tough division so is not seen as a big threat but I think he is a skilled fighter and would cause problems for most of the fighters in the super 6. I really think he'll push Kessler close and isn't a great fight at this time for Mikkel but still he will probably drop a tight decision. I know it sounds weird but I think Kessler would be better off going straight for Bute cos I reckon he would dominate more in that one. Andriy Kotelnik- I'm the first to admit that I underrated him especially after the Khan fight. However, he has a very good win over Maidana, he defo beat Alexander and was by all accounts unlucky vs both Witter & m'Baye (I haven't seen either fight). One of those fighters whose record is unfair to him and is deceiving because of a couple of robberies
Fegatilli is just decent, nothing more, nothing less. I think Buckland would beat him handily, perhaps Sykes too. Kotelnik is a very good fighter, he was just awful against Khan. He certainly beat both M'Baye and Alexander, Witter could have gone either way.
Kotelnik had issues with his ear leading up to the Khan fight IIRC and cancelled to have the fight 3 weeks later. He was really poor that night due to Khan's tactics but also seemed rather subdued by the whole fight. Never got going and he's shown he can fight away from home and against quick fighters.
