Awesome, Lara deserves to have a World Title belt around his waist. They should remove that ridiculous " loss " in his record, that was a total robbery! :fire

I have my doubts about Perez. Yes he is very strong, fast, aggressive and powerful but it seems to me he lacks technique and is a little wild. Juan C Gomez in his prime had better technique but lacked KO power and discipline.

Who knows, maybe Perez proves me wrong. I surely hope he makes it far! ;)

Lara had been considered for a clash of southpaws opposite WBO titleholder Sergei Dzinziruk (37-1, 23 KOs), but that did not work out, said Schaefer.

"I was informed by [Dzinziruk's promoter] Gary Shaw that that is not going to happen, so we are going to see if maybe Lara against Kirkland can be a possibility," said Schaefer.

"Gary Shaw said that Dzinziruk is not going to work because of financial reasons. So it is a possibility that Kirkland could be getting the fight with Lara."

The 27-year-old Kirkland (29-1, 26 KOs) scored his second straight knockout in as many wins since being reunited with trainer Ann Wolfe after stopping Alexis Hloros 25 seconds into the second round in July.

Another possibility to face Lara is southpaw WBA "regular" beltholder Austin Trout (23-0, 13 KOs), said Schaefer.

After winning a one-sided technical decision over former world champion Daniel Ponce de Leon in front of 2,000 fans at Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on Saturday night, unbeaten former unified featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa confirmed again that he will not stay in the featherweight division but move up in weight to get better fights against big names. “I’m done at 126,” stated Gamboa. “There’s nothing left for me to prove. I want to fight the best boxers in the world. Living legends like Manny Pacquiao. To be the best you have to beat the best. That is what I did at featherweight. And that is exactly what I want to continue doing. So bring on the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.”
